You know,we just had this conversation before I logged on.
We have 2 cats and 2 dogs and of course they get presents on Christmas and birthdays.
I had 2 small boxes of toys for them already wrapped and put away until this afternoon when I put them under the tree. And I swear those boxes had no bottoms. The gifts would not stop falling out when I turned the boxes over!
They got new treat balls and several stuffed animals and new soccer balls for outside. They also got new collars and leashes and stuffed basketballs to toss in the house. The cats got a sisal pad to rip into with their claws and big dental balls they'll love once spayed with catnip and several toys.
Everyone got 5 new toys each.I show no favoritism when it comes to presents.I load them up on special occasions so they're pretty well set for awhile.
The toilet paper is a great idea but I'd be afraid I'd be starting something that I would'nt care to deal with later.lol.Bet it's really fun to watch them tho.Have fun.

LOL at some of the answers... you really have to be a dog lover and know your friends are as well.... I actually sent a friend of ours dog mail after Halloween for we had a costume on ours for a child and pet parade thing... and let me tell you when they got that in the mail address to their dog from ours it brought alot of smiles and laughter.... so I say go for it.... if you have a color printer at home you could make ur own with a picture of your dog wearing the Santa hat as mentioned above... and yes I will be sending out her doggie Christmas card to her friends.... only 3 of them actually but these are dogs she spends time with and knows well so I say why not add to the Christmas Cheer!!

All 5 of my dogs get a present box under the tree and my 2 boys get to buy or donate presents for each of the dogs. We buy them each a pack of treats, squeaky toys each, a new bed blanket each and the boys donate a couple of old soft toys. The dogs all come inside and sit down in a line and the boys get to choose which dog gets which toys and blankets, then they get a treat each and we go outside and make their beds and stack their toys on the corresponding beds. Then the kids come inside and open their own presents. We do the dogs first to teach the kids responsibility, that if they are going to have pets then they need to look after them before themselves. I have seen too many people buy their kids pets, then after a few weeks the dog is in the backyard ignored. I never thought of toilet paper but its a good idea because mine love it too (the mess tho)

Each of my boys have their own stocking and it's loaded up with treats and a coule of new toys. I didn't get them anything big this year as I already lavish them with most anything they might need. They got a new metal folding crate for their birthday's last month so that was about the last big purchase I needed for them.

I got my dog a new blanket and two toys, one rubber one shaped like a newspaper that squeaks and a cloth stuffed toy shaped like a pretzel she will love that one running around carrying it with her. That is not good to give the dogs tissue. Do they shred it during the rest of the year? And if so, do they get punished for it. You shouldnt let them do that on x-mas and try to maintain them not doing it throught out the rest of the year. Unless the toilet tissue is out of their reach throughout teh rest of the year and they cannot get to it then you dont have to worry about confusing the pups. But Merry CHristmas!!

Toys, treats, new habitat items for the snakes...a nibble of fruitcake for the mouse. The cat is usually most thrilled with just a can of tuna (fed after the holidays when there are no guests to be disturbed by the inevitable outcome).
