According to this study, The Effects of Clenbuterol on Skeletal and Cardiac Muscle of Rats when Combined with Aerobic and Anaerobic Exercise, ' Biochemistry of Exercise Ninth International Conference Abstracts, #117, p 75, 1994, "clenbuterol also yielded three very negative changes. First, after just four weeks, clenbuterol-treated rats were unable to maintain their normal swimming or running training intensities, while clean rodents were quite capable of continuing. Secondly, the hearts of the clenbuterol-taking, trained rats increased dramatically in size compared to the hearts of sedentary rats, but the heart expansion was probably due to the infiltration of collagen fibres into the heart walls, not an increase in heart-muscle cells. Collagen is a tough connective tissue which doesn't augment heart-muscle power but in fact stiffens the heart, potentially leading to a decrease in cardiac output. Increases in collagen may also produce cardiac arrhythmias. Thirdly, clenbuterol rats suffered from noticeable cardiac-cell degeneration."

It lowers endurance rates so you'll tire more easily, enlarges the heart--which is never good--and it can also cause your heart to beat at an incorrect rhythm which can, obviously, be extremely dangerous. It also appears to actually damage the cells that make up the heart. In other words it's not a good thing to take if you haven't had it prescribed by a physician for a specific reason.

EDIT: byc0181 beat me to it and since s/he is a med student their advice should weigh far more than mine.

Clenbuterol is a beta 2 agonist, and can effect mainly LUNGS & HEART
Side effects include: allergic reactions, heart arrhythmias, speeds up heart rate, palpitations, tremor, muscle cramps
In general it will stimulate your Sympathetic nervous system which can have many affects as forementioned above.
I'm suprised athletes are taking this, as it is usually taken by Asthmatics...I guess it is for more airflow to the lungs.
If I were an athlete I would take xenadrine (ephedrine)...that stuff rocks..and is only dangerous if abused. Too bad they took it off the market.

don't take it. if you really are a cheerleader, then you should have the will to gain strength by workouts, and at practice. Also, enhanced muscles look fake, and I assume judges can tell, and may disqualify you from an event you are at.
