Just do it and stop putting it off. Don't drag out what you can do fast.

You don't say your age, but if you're still in school, talk to the conselors. But really, you chose to be in a relationship with a more mature person. So act like a more mature person, yourself. Why would you be afraid to break up with him? Is he abusive, controling, mean? Your question gives the impression you don't have very high self esteme, if you did, you need not ask this question. There are millions of web sites on the net that will help you for free. Now....if he is a much older man, he "should be" old enough to understand, that you don't want to continue a relationship with him. You should just tell him honestly what, and why, then you'd be done. Don't drag things out in a break up, that would be sending "mixed messages". Just be open, honest and direct. Good Luck and I hope your Holidays get better.

For starters I would wait until after the new year, nothing is worse than breaking up before the holidays, (shows bad Karma). Anyway after the holidays tell him things are just not working out and that you need some time away. Offer to be the one to go away unless he insists on doing it first, this will give you a clean break and maybe he will see at the same time that he needed to be broken up with you as well. Merry Christmas, hope this helps! Claire

WELL I' M SO SORRY YOUR IN THAT PREDICAMENT.
BREAKING UP IS NEVER EASY.
IT BEING SO CLOSE TO XMAS MAYBE YOU WOULD WANT TO WAIT SO AS NOT TO RUIN EVERYONE 'S XMAS.
YOU COULD JUST NOT ANSWER HIS CALLS, OR DON'T INVITE HIM ANY MORE.
THE BEST THING TO DO IS JUST BE HONEST WITH HIM.
IT MIGHT BE HARD , BUT ITS THE ONLY WAY.
TELL HIM THAT THINGS AREN'T WORKING OUT LIKE YOU THOUGHT THEY WOULD.
THAT YOU DON'T THINK THAT THE RELATIONSHIP IS GROWING, AND YOU WOULD LIKE OUT.
OR
YOU COULD JUST TELL HIM YOU HAVE GROWN APART, THAT YOU REALLY FEEL LIKE YOU NEED TO FOCUS'S ON YOU, AND MAKE SOME CHANGES IN YOUR LIFE.
JUST WALK AWAY.
NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO SOMEONES GONNA GET HURT, UNFORTUNATELY.
HAVE A GREAT XMAS!!!!
DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT, IT WILL ALL WORK OUT FOR THE GOOD.

well no offence to your sister but her advice couldn't be more wrong...doing it slow Will only allow you to keep putting off the inevitable and make the situation worse..the longer you are with him the longer you are in a way leading him on and it's another day that your unhappy. Do it and get it over with explain to him your reasons and hopefully he will understand and if he doesn't oh well you deserve better and you deserve happiness don't settle and don't put it off..trust me it will only make it worse! you will be fine it's always hard to take that first step but once you do, you will never look back and you will be really glad you got it over with.

If you really want to break up with him, then go for it. Get it over with. The faster you get it done, the better you'll feel about it. Best of luck to you.

I am kind of in the same boat. You gotta do what makes you happy and if you don't feel it with your bf, then move on. Remember, you are living for yourself and gotta do what makes you happy.

you have to find the way some how it isn't fair to him stringing him along. the pain for him will be much greater if you wait.
