Would you kill him rather than let him spill the beans?

In essence, do you really believe that the human race NEEDS to have a god, whether it's a real one or not?

if I someone gave me proof that there was no creator I would thank him for answering such an important question and go on my way.

as for dose the human race need a Creator? No it dose not, but I would say that even pretending to have one would be better for our legal system and society.

Without a ultimate judge law becomes relative instead of absolute. Suddenly if you have enough power and money such things as murder, rape and, violence can be reprimanded for if the price is right.

I am not saying this as a scare tactic but rather biased on society's that existed where the King and the government was the highest power. Read the Hammurabi codes if you want to see what I am talking about.

Without at least a symbolic Creator moral relativism will soon be part of the law. Now you might disagree but I personally think that would be a bad thing for everyone.

Let us assume that this is possible, what would it take to prove there is no God?

In order for you to prove the non-existence of something, you would have to know everything at every point in the universe all at once from the dawn of time to the end of the universe. Since we humans are not capable of that, it follows that we cannot know with certainty that there is no God. Therefore, the best we can do is believe that there is no God, making atheism a faith system not unlike most other religions.

To answer your second question, on whether mankind needs a god, it depends on what you mean by "needs". if we define God the way Christians do, that God is a divine being that controls the universe and provides for mankind, then the answer would be yes. However, if you define god as more of a good luck charm, something you call upon to make a wish and hope for the best, then probably not.

So, your saying that an atheist, without a doubt would prove that there was no God, would I rather kill him or let him tell? Well, seriously, I doubt it would make much of a difference if someone killed him because that person would go to jail and scare his religon, and 'spilling the beans' would be pointless as many religons would countinue anyway. And since there is a God, yes, we do need him, just sometimes we're to stupid to realize it.

Yes everyone needs something to believe in. There is no way to prove or disprove this. God is what you make him. If you believe what the Bible states then that is your god. If you don't believe the Bible then you have to find a different path to follow. Each person has a different vision of god most just choose to follow the masses becuz they can't stand on their own.

We don't need God. Where is the need for God? Morals and ethics are independent of religion, people have fought countless wars over religion, and religion seems to be more about controlling people and taking their (tax free) money. What good do they do that atheist humanists can't?

wow,..thats a deep one. The human race as a whole "need" a god....probably not. But there are alot of people, such as AA, church paritioners, ect. who do "need" a god. For without a higher power they would feel lost and without direction in life.
