There are programs out there to help those on government assistance enter into the workforce. It is probably too late for the spring semester, but it is not too late for the summer session. However, I recommend checking with the local welfare office or workforce office for the welfare to work program. If you are disabled, go to the Office/Department of Vocational Rehabilitation which can be located on the state government website or the blue pages of the telephone book. I will provide some other resources to help you locate money to go to college.

First, there is the FAFSA form which can be located online. It will tap into need based financial aid from the federal and state governments along with the college level.

Second, the college's financial aid office and website has a list of private scholarships offered from outside organizations and companies. Sometimes, a college major website will list scholarships, too.

Third, go to the public library because there is a scholarship book. It contains some scholarships that can't be located on the scholarship search websites or search engines.

Finally, join several free membership scholarship search websites. Most are updated on a regular basis. Most offer a customized search.

Good luck!

i am of the same age and am enrolled in college. We both missed our chances at the great scholarships when we were in H.S. but you can still be availible for pell grants and map grants which are government assisted free money. Then once you are enrolled in school you need to look at what scholarships are availible at the school many of them offer academic scholarships. Also look into what your major is, a lot of associations like paralegal assoc. of America offer scholarships to students.

Most scholarships are given for fall and the deadline for spring has passed too. You can still qualify for pell grants and loans..Go to FAFSA.com and fill out the papers..if you are disabled there is a program thru DHS that will assist with tuition and books..however they usually only have funding in the fall..GL

when you decide what colleges you want to apply to set up an informational interview with an admissions representative and also meet with a financial aid representative. they can advise you of scholarships, grants, government assistance you can apply for. it's never to late to go to college. i wish you all the best and know you will do great!
