My son is 27 months old and is very frustrating. He doesn't say more than 10 words and when he writes his letters he will scribble over them when you tell him that was a good job. He has been evaluated by speech therapy and they just said he was delayed in expressive speech and advanced in receptive speech. And yet he ignores me all the time. How do I get him to talk more and accept compliments. He is very smart, I just wish he would talk more. I am afraid that people will not see what he can do because he doesn't talk. I have tried with-holding what he wants until he at least makes a sound in order to get it (except for food or essentials) and he just gives up trying and cries. Right now his vocabulary is shrinking because he has stopped saying words he used to. His words include: mom, amma, cat, om (some), ball, book, tad (leapfrog), lay (clay). He can say his alphabet phonetically but not actual letter, he knows his numbers and can read the words he says. Please help.

my daughter is 27 months old too and I am going through the same thing. My problem is that she is saying things but nothing like what they are suppose to be.2 examples green is da. Santa is Onka. She also recognizes the letters because when I ask her whats what she points to the correct answer. My dr told me the same it takes time. I was a toddler/preschool teacher before I had my daughter and I just remember the kids that were talking sentences of 4-5 words at 20 months and all I can ask myself is if my daughter is so smart and advanced as the dr's and therapist say why is her language so hard to understand. I finally came to the conclusion, it just isnt her time. What I have found useful although it can be rather annoying to another person in the same room is noise games. games that use loud and soft tones of the voice. once my daughter understood loud and quiet I started doing different sounds like animals or simple words first quietly then loudly. Once he discovers his voice youll wish he was quiet again:) patience lots of patience, thats the only advice I can give.

Have you had his hearing checked?

It could be that he has a hearing problem that's preventing him from speaking correctly. His ears may be working enough to hear general sounds but not the specific tones and more subtle sounds that reflect proper pronunciation of words. This could also be why he seems to ignore you, because he can't always hear you or can't make you what your saying.

He may be speaking less because he's giving up. He's going by the confused expressions he sees on your faces and realizes that he can't effectively communicate (he can't seem to understand your words and you can't understand his) so he stops trying to speak.

Have his ears checked for signs of minor infections (something that may not have been severe enough to cause a fever or pain, but still may have done damage) then have him under go a full auditiory test to evaluate whether or not he is hearing all the proper frequencies of sound.

It's still possible that his hearing will "check out fine" but he he will continue to fail in speaking. One of my coworkers I knew last year had a son (her youngest) that had problems speaking, they had his ears tested a couple times and each time it came back "normal" but he still had speaking difficulties. Like your son, my coworker's son is smart and shows no sign that he is mentally impared.

She and her husband have put him in speech therapy sessions to develop his speaking skills and they still schedule regular doctor visits and various testing, but they still don't know what's wrong and why he cannot speak properly. Depending on what your doctor finds (or doesn't find) he may recommend you place your son in similar speech therapy sessions to improve his skills so that he won't be so far behind verbally by the time he starts school.

My, such hate - and from what? How did you've a horrible enjoy with Christianity? Did anybody do some thing to you? That was once one man or woman, now not Christianity. Are you short of to do some thing that God forbids? That's your hindrance, now not a hindrance with Christians. And you are going to face God's last judgment whether or not or now not you feel. How did Christians as a rule rationale your affliction? Cattle prods? Electroshock? Or do you hate their ideals for a few purpose? If you hate then for what they feel, the the hindrance is along with your intolerance for his or her correct to feel of their faith. The first modification of the US Constitution promises this correct. Are you harm when you consider that you assume every person to obey your ideals? You shouldn't have the correct to call for that others have to obey your ideals. How did Christians as a rule rationale "such a lot of hateful acts ago 2 thousand years"? Do you become aware of that each one of the ones acts have been the outcome of a couple of erroneous guys who did matters in Christ's title with out first consulting Christ or the Bible? The Crusades weren't acts of Christianity, however acts of grasping politicians claiming to do matters within the title of Christ. The witch hunts have been performed through persons who didn't comprehend the scriptures. If you hate the principles, you then have to hate all society, when you consider that all societies have regulations. Actually, there are only a few regulations in Christianity, on account that the New Testament calls for Christians to obey best the ethical legislation of the Old Testament. The nutritional, cleanliness, ceremonial, and civil legislation of the Old Testament aren't required of Christians. So all that's left for Christians to obey are: - The Ten Commandments (as amended through Jesus) - Laws forbidding persons from harming every different - Laws prohibiting sexual immorality (any intercourse external heterosexual marriage) - Three small nutritional regulations - Telling others approximately Jesus (some of the best 2 "do" regulations. - Giving to the deficient voluntarily. - Do now not do something evil or help any individual else in doing evil. That's approximately it. Stop believing that technological know-how can give an explanation for the whole lot. Miracles are aspect of Christianity. I see them always. But the hateful Atheists pressured technological know-how to take delivery of a rule that the whole lot that appears like a miracle will also be defined through "random hazard". Has anybody else informed you to hate Christianity? Stop being attentive to that man or woman.

Relax the child is barely two years old. He seems smart so just let him be a child and he will talk when he is ready. Lots of kids don't speak until they have to.
