Absolutely. If they believe the Bible and then you show them, from the Bible, that what they are doing is not authorized or contrary to what God has written, you are usually labeled as a "troublemaker".

People fear change. They also do not like it when they are shown that they are wrong on certain subjects.

Of course it all depends on whether you believe the Bible to be true or not.

For example, ask a Catholic why they baptize infants and then show them that there is NO example of that in the Bible, and they get upset. Quote a verse that says a person must Believe, Confess and Repent prior to baptism, something an infant cannot obviously do, and they usually get very defensive.

If you believe the Bible to be true and study it, you will find all the answers that you need for salvation. They may not agree with what you have been taught by your priests, popes or other "religious" leaders, but that is what happens when Man decides that he knows more than God and changes the Bible to suit his desires and needs.

because Racism is much extra complicated than basically putting forward the common "white" man or woman is this or that. what's ignorant and close-minded are all the human beings, immigrant or not, mild skinned or darkish who view their lives with the help of the restricted and singular lens of their personal existence and experience. Are Russians white? Irish? British? German? some from India are white, some are black -- authentic racism subscribes to the concept one "race" of human beings is better, and yet another is inferior. As a white suburbanite, college knowledgeable female, and someone who has lived maximum of her existence as an impoverished female in a unmarried mom residing house -- i keep in mind that todays race topics, for the most section, are extra about resentments, way of existence wonder, personal fears and carry close-ups, and the downright "undesirable" habit that's displayed with the help of a few irresponsible, outspoken, and in many circumstances criminal persons that come from *each* heritage. on the right of the day there'll be plenty those who will under no circumstances understand one yet another, and that is okay. What we favor to do is end focusing on pointing palms, complaining, and letting our worry fester and boil over... and initiate to mediate our personal movements and behaviors. take care of all others with compassion. Face our fears. pay interest extra. get up for our values -- and comprehend the version between hateful racism and false impression.

Yes most people do get offended by the Truth. The reason why is that the Truth breaks our illusions and reminds us that we, human beings, are NOT the "be all and end all" of creation. There is a Being higher than us and that Being's Truth is what may be difficult for us to take in due to our pride and desire to be gods. In short, we have within us the vicious desire of saying what is right and wrong without this higher Being's guidance.
Even when the Christian discovers the Truth about God and God's will, they become offended as well. For example, when I was coming back from Mexico I sat next to a man I will call Sam on the plane. He spoke with me when he found out I was a priest (I was not wearing my collar, since I just came in from the mountains near Puebla). Anyway, he began to complain about the world and humanity in general about how evil and sinful we all were. He began to bash the military ( I bit my tongue here because I served in the military before becoming a priest). He began to bash other races and ended each complaint with, "They're not actin' like the Jesus I know!"
I began to tell him of the compassion, wisdom, and mercy of Jesus towards sinners. He interuppted me and only spoke of Jesus in terms of a wrathful judge. As I listened on I discovered that the "Jesus he knew" hated the same things that Sam did. In Sam's unconcious mind Jesus was not a compassionate Lord, but in the "spittin' image" of Sam! He became very offended with who Jesus said He was from the scriptures. That truth did not conform with his vengeful Christ. The Truth of Christ broke his illusional Christ.
The same could be said of the several Athiests I have written to or spoken with. When confronted with the Truth of the Scriptures, they automatically cast it away as a fairy tale and not even give themselves the chance to truly study them. Why? Because such truths would break their illusions of reality as well. It is disconcerting to them that there is more to reality than earth, stars, and galaxies.
And so, it seems a lot of people are offended and hurt by the Truth. They would rather flee from the pain than heal in it and grow from it. My advice is to speak and live in the Truth and it will be less painful to live in its light.
Sorry that this is so lengthy. I hope it does lend you some insight. May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.

no i am not offended by truth. the truth is that 1+1=2 and so on.

but when people try to claim their religious beliefs as the only truth with no proof other than a 1500 year old book that has been re-written more than the American slang dictionary. i have a problem with this.

and it really bothers me when they try to pass their beliefs into laws that infringe on the freedoms of other people that do not hold their beliefs.

Your god, or gods may be the truth for you, and mine are the truth for me, but that does not give either of us the right to try to force the other to believe the same way as each individual does.

your truth and my truth are the same. in that they are not a truth, but a strong belief in a god or gods. with no actual proof of existence. this is truth to you and me, but to someone else it is
superstition.

The truth does hurt, especially when the truth defies what is perceived by the masses as being "truth."

Not necessarily.
The truth only hurts when it shows that you need to change something about yourself.
