If they are 15 years old then they must be straight skis. In that case, if they were a higher end model, first make sure that they can be restored to a good condition. Even if there is some rust on the edges, any ski shop will still be willing to sharpen your edges, grind the base, and wax them. Age does not matter for this. Then sell the skis only (without the bindings) on eBay or Craig's list. There is a good market of old school skiers who refuse to swich to shaped skis. If the skis are good, one can easily mount a new set of bindings on them (Most ski shops will not re-mount more than twice though).

However, if your skis were a junky model to begin with, your potential buyers are people who are looking for a good deal. None of them will be willing to pay for new bindings and remounting. In this case you shouldn't waste your money on refurbishing these skis. Instead, I recommend you either make something with them or trash them. You can make anything decorative or I actually made a fun sled out of an old pair of skis and an old bike frame. I just sawed down the skis to a shorter length, screwed a 2x3 board to each ski then bolted one short ski to the front fork, and a bit longer ski to the rear triangle part of the frame.

15 years old?

Don't donate them...that old, they are garbage. No ski shop is going to work with them, and the bindings are likely dangerous by this point, especially if they have been sitting in a garage for the last 10 years.

Throw them away, or do what the first person suggested, and make an attractive memorial that you can hang in your house, or outside your house.

You may be able to sell them at Play it Again Sports if you have it in your area. Also, call around to your local ski ships and ask if they do a drive for the para-olympics. We donated some very old skis that they use to refurbish for the special olympic skiiers who ski with the seats attached to the skis.

Put your head over a bowl of very hot water, dont touch the water and burn yourself, just let the steam rise on the spots. Hold it like that for about 5 mins. Then, take a sewing needle, burn the end, then run that under a cold tape and wipe dry with tissue, this makes it sterile. Gently try to prise the spots out of the skin. If they bleed a little dont worry. The apply a good moisturiser, something like Olay for men, on the face, just a little. Every day after that, cleanse thoroughly, NOT with soap, use Clearasil, ask your pharmacy for it, after cleaning, then use the moisturiser ok

I like TITANS FAN 's idea. Skis can make awesome decorations/projects. Examples: Bench, swing, headboard, shelf, wall decoration, propped up outside.

Otherwise, if they're still usable, sell them through something local, or even eBay or Craigslist.

Good luck!
