Oh grow up. If you had a family member being assaulted, would you want them to wait patiently at traffic lights? I don't believe you've heard of police officers doing these things, as they are accountable for their actions to the police authority, and have to have very good reasons for their actions on emergency calls. My guess is that you're some sort of militant student, sponging from us working people, who reads something in the student union mag and decides to stand up for the latest 'cause.'

Actually no, police do not use lights and sirens "just for the hell of it" they have to have a authorised code call from the department, If they were to use them incorrectly they can recieve punishment from thier departments.
Next anytime a person is killed ( and I do doubt your figure) but anytime there is a death due to a police chase there is a formal investigation and if the police break a law or rule they are punished and the officer and department sued.
Police use of lights and sirens are required for many reasons, and often one has to wonder why with hearing an oncomming police car with lights blarring, why they are still in the road ?

You have heard wrong my friend.
This is an urban myth and every blue light vehicle has to be cleared if it has been flashed etc. Prosecutions happen when a driver is at fault in an accident whether its a responding police, fire or ambulance!
Would you have an ambulance responding to your heart attack not going over 30mph when time is the crucial factor of whether you survive or not?
Don't be so stupid and watch out next time you hear a siren as most of these accidents you talk about are due to people being drunk or not paying attention.

how many ordinary people have to spend a night id the cells and receive a caution or a fixed penalty fine because they have answered a police officer back in the same way as they were spoken to, this may seem trivial but lots of little things add up to 1 big thing so it evens itself out at the end of the day. the police have also killed a lot of people and got away with murder as we all know but seem to forget.

The majority of pedestrians killed are the idiots who don't look before they cross the road. Police drivers aren't in the habit of mounting pavements for the hell of it.
Ever heard of Darwinism? If you're too stupid to follow the Green Cross Code then you're too stupid to live.
(This doesn't apply to the times when a police driver has mounted the pavement.)

I think with sirens blaring at least we have a chance of hearing them coming (assuming the person is not deaf), what piss es me off is when they hoon around in the middle of the night with just the blue lights flashing! I mean if they are coming from behind you how are you supposed to get out of the way if you can't hear them? So what if it's late and they don't want to disturb the peace? someone could end up dead because they don't want to wake the community up. The sirens give you a better chance of getting clear then a couple of flashy lights.

I even have it consistently so I by no skill pass buying or everywhere the place there are a number of human beings if i'm able to help it . It only takes one holiday to the severe highway to appreciate that maximum of humanity are straightforward no longer something greater effective than a waist of oxygen .

How many pedestrians do you think would be struck if people knew they could drive off, and avoid the police, without any consequences? Do you think anybody would stop for the police then?

So I guess you would rather they never "made progress" to the scene of a crime and poodled along at the limit thus letting the culprits get away.
The majority of calls will be genuine, and those "I have heard off..." are probably just the normal B.S. which goes on in the job.
