I have two boys, ages 3 1/2 and 1 1/2. When my 3 year old turned 2, we would take him potty when we went just so he could get used to the potty. When he was about 2 1/2, we would let him run around the house without any bottoms on, no pants, no diaper. He'll probably have a few accidents, but he'll get it. Just a few months of doing this and he was potty trained. Also, if daddy is around, have him take your son everytime daddy has to go. He can say things like "daddy goes in the potty too." And ALWAYS make a HUGE deal out of it when he goes. We were jumping up and down and clapping and giving high-fives! Little treats work great too although eventually we had to break the habit of giving him something every single time he went, but he still got something until he was fully potty trained.

Good luck!! Remember, boys are generally more difficult to train and usually aren't ready till they're almost 3. Take it slow...he won't graduate high school in diapers!!

Getting kids to poop in the potty is the hardest part that I have had. I just told them that the poop is the yukiest part and if they go in the potty then it gets flushed away and if they go in the diaper then it sits on their bottom and makes them feel yucky. Don't leave him in it for too long but give him a good 5 minutes to walk around the poop in his diaper to get your point across. Be patient and it will all work out in the end.

YOUR SON IS NOT READY!

if he is refuseing to use the potty, but will go in his diaper then he is not ready, potty trainning will only work when the kid wants to, it sounds like he is not ready.

2 is quite early for boys, most boys its 2 1/2 - 3 years olds. try again in 6 months, remember boys are slower then girls

My son adjusted relatively easy. Make sure you make it fun...the people above have given some great advice. The key is to make it enjoyable for him and something that he looks forward to doing. Make sure you get a step ladder for him to reach. Every time he actually lets you know before hand so he can go in the potty or even goes on his own...Celebrate. Tell him how great he's doing and how proud you are of him. He'll get it soon enough. Oh and pull ups are essential! Good Luck.

I know it is gross, but keep him in underwear, the 3 or 4 times my son was in the gross underwear, he realized he didnt like it. also dont switch from underwear to diapers, it confuses them, daytime use underwear, night time bed time, use diaper. and stay on him everyone hour at first make him use the potty, or at least try, I am still in the process now training my 3 year old, but the last month he is going on his own and using it for poop, and no more accidents after the last nasty pair of undies!! Oh buy cheap underwear, ones you dont mind throwing out!! cause you wont want to wash them in your machine!! LOL good luck

When I potty trained my son, I took the diapers off during the day. There were a few accidents, but he learnt really fast.

I don't mean to sound cruel, but make him sit on the potty chair until he goes. Then praise him when he does. Don't let him win this one. Ya gotta be stern. He'll catch on.

I have the same problem my 2 1\2 yr old daughter wont go to do number 2's on the toilet. And when i put a Nappie on her she will go in them. He will go when he is ready. Forcing them will scare them and they will be afraid to go do number 2's on the toilet. He will learn by his accidents and soon realise that he has to go to the toilet to do his number 2's. Its frustrating but he will get there. Just keep praising him for going to the toilet, don't get mad it will eventually happen.

I put cheereos in the toilet and made it a game of aim your pee in the hole, it was fun for him, so he liked to do it all the time also buy him big boy undies like with his favriote character on it and let him wear them at home and remind him his favriiote character doesnt want pee on him.
