A gadge or gadgie is a burberry-wearing person of low intelligence and little education who lives in one of the less salubrious areas of the city.

(Or, in local parlance, a mad wee c*nt fae Pollok.)

A Gadgee is a slang term for some one who appears to or does live in slum dwellings, thier clothes will not have ever been washed, and there body will have never seen the wet end of a bar of soap. Also a gadgie will also be seen raiding bins and skips.

The trem is now also associated with "jakies" (drug abusers) As they will fit the description pretty well.

Basically it is one of those tracksuit wearing delinquents who run around in glasgow acting hard.

They are essentially of no known use to society and possibly are of a lower breed of human.

The primary diet of a gadge is alcohol (the cheaper the better). Their main source of income is state benefits topped up with hustling people for "bus fare home", usually accompanied by a tall tale of hardship.

You can tell a gadgie by the high pitched nasal voice they always speak in, usually greeting each other with "awright mucker".

Female gadges (otherwise known as sengas) are particularly dense and need to hang a large gold chain around their neck with their name on in case they forget it.

I believe its Cumbrian:

gadgee
1.(noun. gadjee) Man, or bloke. e.g. Gadgees can still lowp yats like the la'l chores can = Gate jumping does not seperate the men from the boys.

Even with that explanation - I'm still not sure. Check it out for yourself.
