if your trying to make choc chip oatmeal or peanut butter try playing with your recipe. White sugar is what causes cookies to get crisp my recipe for all these uses no white sugar at all infact I could let these sit out for a week and they would still be soft and moist.

Yes.. what you do is you put the cookies in a air tight container and u put a piece of bread in the container with the cookies. The bread will get hard but the cookies will stay soft. It is so true, my kids think I am incredible for this. So go ahead and try it .. it really works. Good luck to ya! BTW you will have to change the bread out once it gets hard.. it is also a great thing to do if sending cookies to a loved one in the mail. Have a great day!

I used to have that problem. Ive learned to bake the cookies 2 minutes less than what the recipe calls for. This keeps them from getting crispy after they cool. They stay nice and soft. I keep mine in a tupperware container with a lid.

1. Don't overcook them.
2. Put them in an airtight container and tear up a slice of bread or 2 and throw that in with the cookies. The moisture from the bread will go into the cookies. It doesn't change the taste of the cookies, either, as long as you use white or wheat bread. Don't use rye. My grandmother did this when I was little, and I still do it if the chocolate chip cookies are getting too hard.

This is a good job for the heel in your loaf of bread. Just put it in the bag or container with the cookies.

I'm not sure if it works for more than a day, but when you take them off the cookie sheet to cool, instead of putting them on wire racks, put them on a paper sack. It's supposed to work.

Once they cool make sure you put them in an air tight container or seal them in sandwich bags. Also, to guarantee they will stay soft, make sure you don't over cook them because once as they cool they will harden a bit anyway.
