It is not about supporting war, it is about protecting our interests. Should we just bow to the Islamic Fascists? I'll go ahead and buy burkas for my mom, sister and daughter. Christ would like that.

Good point.

People who support war are not true christians. Jehovahs Witness don't go to war. During wars they where put into prison because they did not want to participate in the wars. They are the only religious group I know who actually follow Christ's orders. Im not a Jehovah's witness but I admire them for that.

Jesus was not part of this world or "system", and true christians are not supposed to be part of this world either.

True christians are not part of this world and don't support any troops or wars in this world. True christians await Jesus's kingdom to bring peace to earth.

I get the feeling you're specifically referring to the war in Iraq. I think the reason George W. Bush and many other Christians are so for the war in Iraq is because they want an ally with an Islamic country so that they can help us help Isreal wipe out the Palestinians so that the Jews can rebuild their temple which would allow Jesus to come back.

Matthew 10:34 Jesus said "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword"

and in Luke 12:49-51 “I have come to set the world on fire, and I wish it were already burning! I have a terrible baptism of suffering ahead of me, and I am under a heavy burden until it is accomplished. Do you think I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I have come to divide people against each other!"

war has been around since the first humans were on earth... what God allows isnt so much 'liked or supported' by Christians... also, grouping all Christians together is like grouping all of any other group together when making a statement.

Christ was not here to wage war. He was here to save souls. When he says things like turn the other cheek, he is referring to saving souls. Christ will come back as a general of armies of angels. Have you read the Old Testament? Many wars were commanded by God. Just because Christ's purpose was one of peace does not mean God is against war.

oh boy...Christians don't support war, at all...let's just make that clear. We do not support war. The Bible tells us that war will happen because of our own human, greed, selfishness, and all those other stupid reasons, like, power hungry leaders, you know, oil...dumb stuff. But Christians don't support war, and neither does Christ. Christ is the Prince of Peace, therefore He, nor Christians support war.

While Christ was against war, he warned his followers that after he left earth, they should arm themselves.
If Christians didn't fight to protect themselves all through their turbulent history, there will be no Christians today. Do you expect Christians to kneel while others slaughter them? You must be crazy!

Because Christianity today is in many cases twisted and taken out of context to serve the purposes of the hard core right. Not all Christians support the war though. (BTW, I am Buddhist)
