I had a slight injury on my private parts. A metal piece cut through the skin.

Do I need to get a Tetanus shot?

I'm too embarrassed to tell anyone what happened, so can I just get a tetanus a shot for any reason, or do I need to cut myself elsewhere, and if so how big of a cut?

Any suggestions would be welcome

You should get a tetanus shot. You can just go in and get one, DO NOT cut yourself somewhere else, and just so you know what happened to you is not so bad, I've worked in the ER and seen much, much worse and many more embarrasing things than that. Good Luck!!

yes, you need a tetanus shot if you haven't had one in the last 5 yrs. Do NOT cut yourself somewhere else. Simply go to the ER and say that you had an accident and need a tetanus booster. What's the worst that can happen?? They hear crazy/ funny stuff all the time, its part of their jobs-- and it brings a little smile to their faces.

YES! Go get one!. Don't cut yourself again. The person giving the tetanus shot is a professional. Regardless of whether or not you tell them how it happened, they're not there to judge you. So, just go get it done, and you won't have to worry about Tetanus. You just told a bunch of people that you got a cut on your private parts. Why not tell one more person who will actually give you something to help you not get sick.

We need to start off from the beginning, when was your last tetanus shot? If it was longer than 10 years ago, then the answer is yes, you'll need a tetanus shot. Better to be safe than sorry. Best of luck to you.

it depends really on how dirty the object you cut yourself with and where it was. If it was at the dump, obviously. but just some random at home object you shouldnt worry. but if you are really worried just go to the doctor and ask for a random tetnus shot.
