It takes place at a very fancy venue (the Four Seasons Hotel) with live music, etc. The invitation specifies "business attire." For men, this is obvious -- suits. But what does it mean for women? Strappless dresses?

NO....strapless dresses are not business attire. That would be formal attire. DO NOT wear that.

A suit with a skirt would be good, dressed up with fancier than usual jewelry to doll it up a little for evening.

A little black dress works for this as well....dressed up with accessories.

Wear a suit to work---skirt or pants, doesn't matter. Wear something in a festive color or fabric (red, green, gold charmeuse works well) and add a holiday broach to the lapel of your jacket.

Business attire is just what it says---you should wear what you normally wear to work. Men and women both have a little license to be more festive---a tasteful Christmas tie or cufflinks, jewelry that's a little more sparkly than the usual daytime fare.

Business attire would be what you wear to work, so I would say that a strapless dress is out. If you don't wear a suit to work, just make sure to wear a really nice skirt and blouse that day.

Only if the women are normally attired in strapless dresses during the work day, which I doubt. Women are to wear basically the same thing as they would wear to work!!

Certainly not a strapless evening gown. Would you wear that for business?

A nice suit, skirt and blouse, nice slacks and festive blouse and blazer. Heels.

I agree with aout. Wear your nicest business suit if you have one, or whatever would be professional.
