I have a 16 year old son and I dont really think id ground him over it. He did do it once when it was worki calling and I was on call and THAT he did get grounded for one day over. When its work calling I have to drop everything and get my butt in there fast! And since I didnt know they had called I could have been fired but thank goodness i wasnt! But I think u should get a warning this time and next time Id probably ground u for a day or so but just off the fone! Maybe she wanted to talk to him about a present for u and now she didnt get it cuz she couldnt talk to him about it? hmmmmm? That would suck huh? Next time just take the time to let them know- it will save all kinds of problems but especially for u! First time i wouldnt ground u though! Merry Xmas and hope u get all u wish for!

You lied to your father and it could have been important that he speak to your mother right away. If being grounded helps you to remember that you aren't as important as you think you are and that your parents are paying the phone bill not you then so be it. If using the phone is a big problem you should offer to get a job and pay for your own phone line so your conversations don't interfer with your parent's lives.

So you lied to him and told him she was busy when she wasn't...just because you were on the phone??

Parents need to talk to each other for reasons that kids just don't understand. What if something had happened to your dad or one of your grandparents/siblings and you were just "too busy" or "too lazy" to get your mom.

Hell yes you should be grounded.

If my daughter did something like this (and she has in the past), she would be grounded from the phone for a week (and she has been).

They need to take the thing that is causing the problem away from you. Period.

You should definitely be grounded. What you did was rude and disrespectful of your parents. Are you paying rent or the phone bill? Didn't think so. Therefore, you have absolutely no right to lie to your father just so that you can stay on the phone.

who cares! there is more too life --- you live in a small world. he didn't even say you were grounded yet! people get mad, fight, and take their own side. you lied to him anyways and made an assumption that you couldn't get to her fast enough as an excuse to cover your laziness. so...even so...he should. but don't freak out or anything -- there will be worst things in your life...i gurantee you.

I think that you should because you don't know what your dad had to tell your mom, you interfered in adult's business, and you lied to your dad.
