my tv is a few years old and about a month back it actually fell off the cabnet and onto the floor ever since then it hasnt really worked as well as it used to,but for the past week now the picture is showing everything in fluorescent colours all the time like someone has put a magnet on the tv but on the whole screen not just one corner..what could that mean?

it means that the shadow mask inside the picture tube got bent when it hit the floor. this is not repairable, you need a new picture tube inside your set.

Yes your TV need repair, sorry but I don't have any clue which part is damage. I think you need to call the repairman if you want to get it repair.
