This person sounds less faithful and more like an opportunist bragging.

Firepants, I think you sound like a poor example of what Jesus intended. I think, if you're right about Jesus and God, you're in for a big surprise.

Actually this sounds more like pride than anything else. Also the God of this world is more likely to do good things for you going his way than God doing this. Here are some good Bible quotes for this; Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Psalm 10:2 The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
Psalm 10:4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.
Proverbs 11:2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
Proverbs 13:10 Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.
I think you get the point, anyways weath and blessings do not always mean favor to God. Without knowing more is hard to say weather he is right or wrong just from these words. If counting means worldly riches then Satan can do this! Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
1 Corinthians 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Here are some guide lines all Christians should be living by; Philippians 2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

Fireball you are right to defend yourself if you feel that is neccessary, however, God does not favor anyone of his children above the other. He loves you as much as he loves Moses or Abraham or your pastor, or an unbeliever. All of us are equal in his eyes, remember that. He is rejoicing that you have found your faith in him and are returning his love. You will have your place in heaven with him, remember that the next time someone upsets you or puts you down about your faith. Pray for them, so that they may have the eternity that you do.

It's extremely arrogant. If there is a God, and he is all-knowing, all-powerful and encompasses everything in the universe simultaneously, do you really think such a being gives a crap about one person? It's like you taking time to consider whether an ant in Botswana took a dump this morning!
