Don't cut it you'll regret it
Have highlights or a fringe or something - ask the hairstylist what she thinks

I have really thick, curly hair that took me forever to grow, cutting it drastically short is not a bueno move to make... I'd say go with a really drastic color change and layers, it'll be bold but you'll keep the length you've worked so hard for (Pick a temporary wash of the color you think you might like first though.) That way if you decide against it in the long run you can wash it out after a few weeks, but you'll have that change for Christmas! :)

i have very similar hair to you, i go through cycles of spending a year or two growing it, get bored and have it cut off, only to regret it and spend the next year or two growing it again, etc. So I say dont have it cut short, you will only miss it lol, have some layers put in, and have it cut at the front, like shaped around your face, or some sort of fringe. This will make it feel different and new without you feeling like part of you is missing lol

You could allways just get it trimmed but shape it around your face ( or feather it) and have a sloping fringe? or have some layers put in whilst keeping the length? You could have some subtle high-lights? ( but not all of this together! ) i don't know it depends if you want to keep the length, but it would be ashame to cut it all off! xx

Depending on if your hair is straight or curly.

Curly hair is normally best left long, it stops frizz better, but if your hair is straight, you could try looking at the Hair Magazine, which can be bought from newsagents for £2.50 max

Have it layered for texture and some lowlights, nothing too drastic so you'll regret it later. Lots of pretty things around if you want to just put it up and decide later.

without seeing you how can we tell you waht to do with your hair. It depends on the shape of your face, your age, etc.
Ask your hairdresser and trust them to know what is best for your type of hair (thickness, etc) and what will suit your shape face and style of clothes etc.
