a very long time. When I sun-dyed my hair from light brown to blonde the first time, it took me 2 weeks of doing it about 15 minutes everyday before I started to see a change... and just a warning, it will turn very orange before you get to the blonde stage

This is not going to happen. They will lighten but they will get no where near blonde. Dye products for ethnic hair are also hard to come by. The best thing I've found for dark hair and especially dreads is to use lemon juice. You can put it in a spray bottle and the soak or mist your hair every time before you go out in the sun. This won't get it blonde but it will lighten it moreand will do it more quickly.

If by sun-dye you mean without using any chemical solution, I doubt that will ever happen. A peroxide solution, which I recently bought for around $7 at a Sally Beauty Supply, will give you much faster results.

It can sun dry better if you get this shampoo ( icant think of the name of it) put it in your hair and the longer that you are in the sun the lighter it will get
