Creationists believe that god created the universe and everything in it.They also believe that god was not created but has always existed.
I believe that the universe has always existed and the rest was down to evolution.
Can you give me one good reason why I might be wrong?

a good reason is that nobody knows exactly... so believe what you want

Actually, both you AND the creationists can be right, at the same time.

You say the universe has always existed. They say that God has always existed. You say that the the universe created everything within it itself, using the process of evolution. They say that God created everything in the universe.

Who is to say that God and the Universe can't be one and the same? Why must God be some "person" or being, why can't God, the almighty, and supposedly the most powerful thing in universe BE the universe itself? What if the power of existence itself IS the highest power there is, i.e. God?

Maybe the disagreement is only about semantics after all is said and done.

God could not have existed before the universe. There is no way for us to see other universes. So god could of not existed outside of the universe. If god existed at the beginning of the universe then he was not the same god as know, he would have to evolve just like everything in the universe.

Jesus freaks barely can prove the existence of a christian bible. It was writen 250 years after allege existence of Jesus. The Jewish bible does not say god has always existed. The first part of the bible is obvious false. The history of the planet, solar system, universe proves the blible is incorrect.

Universe has not always existed in this form. But it was not create by some kind of god. Only men would think they need something else besides them thelves to justify their existence. Once your dead your dead.

Thank you. 1) Please show that thermodynamics has always been in effect. The evidence 100 years will be disregarded because the interval for the observation is way outside the interval for the prediction. You could say to that show otherwise or you'll just assume its true. However, you're just making up your beliefs because we have no information about that time period. 2) Assuming thermodynamics has always been true, there's the issue of the cause-effect relationship. Every effect observed to this day has had a cause. Prove there are effects without causes. This is what is required for the universe to have always been in existance without a God who trancends that law.

Hugh Ross, an astrophysicist, has written very persuasively on this topic. He again brings us into the philosophical implications. Ross says that, by definition,

Time is that dimension in which cause and effect phenomena take place. . . . If time's beginning is concurrent with the beginning of the universe, as the space-time theorem says, then the cause of the universe must be some entity operating in a time dimension completely independent of and pre-existent to the time dimension of the cosmos. This conclusion is powerfully important to our understanding of who God is and who or what God isn't. It tells us that the creator is transcendent, operating beyond the dimensional limits of the universe. It tells us that God is not the universe itself, nor is God contained within the universe.

These are two very popular views, which brings us to something very significant metaphysically or philosophically. If the big bang theory is true, then we can conclude God is not the same as the universe (a popular view) and God is not con-tained within the universe (another popular view).

the Big Bang (i'm guessing you believe in this theory) can't create order. Our universe is perfect. Earth is just the right size to sustain life. If it were any larger or any smaller, nothing could live due to the amount of nitrogen. Also, in the bible it says Moses split the Red Sea. We found out the Red Sea splits on its own. The bible also said that the universe was expanding and that the Earth was a sphere. All of these things were discovered after the bible was written. It will also help if you read all the recent tests on the scriptures ;) I know you only wanted one reason but i had more...and i still do lol. Blessed be, Val

I am a creationist and I don't believe God created the universe, He organized it. It has always existed and will always exist. I do believe that God was created, or rather, grew into what He is today. Perhaps some more study on the matter and what others believe will help you form more intelligent arguments.

I don't understand it, but the latest in astrophysics is pretty clear that the universe did not always exist. The people who came up with this information do not necessarily believe in God. I'm too old to learn new science, though, so maybe I should stick to the old science....

Science does not support you. Astronomers date the universe at being about 13.7 billion years old, therefore the universe has not always existed. Such claims even become more tenuous when one looks into the nitty-gritty of space-time mechanics.

First off, why should I? Second, the universe is expanding, this can be deduced by red shifts. It only stands to reason that there was an initial propulsion forward. Science says "big bang", monotheists say "creation." Your stance has no ground in either science or faith. You're an oddball.
