I'm seeing a lot of post where people are saying that illegal immigrants want to come here because they want a better life and how would we feel if we were in their situation. I want to ask them, why are we expected to care? Why should we deal with Mexico's problems? America has their own set of problems to worry about and I think it's time to just give them the cold shoulder, what do you think?

PS: These immigrants from Mexico are in no way living as poorly as the poor people in Africa.

Mexico is trying to rid themselves of their poor people. Trying to send them all up this way for us to take care of them. They even have the nerve to be hypocritical about our laws.

The U S A, sends poor countrys $$$$$$$$$$, and are they thankfull, oh no they ask, how much more can we get. Maybe its time to stop caring so much, and high time we cared about our own poor. I wish I knew why those from Mexico have this, how much can you give thing. ---------- mendi, did you just in a way tell all of us that, the rich in Mexico do not read or live by the Bible ?

The answers to these questions aren't that simple. Imagine that you work in a hospital in Central California. People come into the hospital, many injured, some are having children, others are sick. You know that they aren't legal citizens because they can't provide any real proof of it. You also know that it is highly unlikely that they can pay for the healthcare because of the sheer price and the fact that illegal residents don't have insurance.
Would you seriously turn down aid to these people? Even if you would, that isn't how our hospitals will ever work. Read the Hippocratic Oath for proof of that.
So even if you don't care, somebody still has to foot the bill when the hospital is nearly bankrupt.

We can´t possibly take care of the entire world´s poor, but many people refuse to accept that reality. We can feel sympathy for these people but there is nothing we can do in most cases, and if we can do something it is only at a small level. We have enough of our own problems and need to solve them first before looking abroad. Everyone thinks the US is the richest country in the world but we have a multi-billion dollar deficit and countries like Switzerland and Austria are richer. Why isn´t anyone on their cases?

Out of all the nations in the world, there are 83% that have more poverty than Mexico.
I can no longer be swayed by the oh poor me BS and the sob stories the media pushes at us with their tales of woe.
The bias media has tried its lying best to change public opinion about illegals with this nonsense.I for one am no longer impressed or concerned. My compassion,my respect,my efforts and my tears are for my nation the USA and its legal American people.

You sound very hard....I really can't believe you are.

Yes, we do have a lot of our own problems but weren't
we put on this earth to help as many as we can and not hinder

The Mexicans are not presenting a real problem as are the
threats from the middle east. 9/11 was not the fault of the
Mexicans and this to me is the biggest pain I have felt ever.
My fellow Americans being murdered, and those trying to prevent
the same situation from happening again being highly criticized.

My grandson in Iraq trying to protect our homeland and yours
worries me. This is only the beginning of some of my rhetoric.
of course, I expect someone writing to this that I am this and
I am that. That's another problem, everybody demands respect
but offer none to other. Thanks for listening.

My grandparents came here over 100 years ago. Just like today's immigrants, they wanted a better economic future for themselves and their families. But... here's the big difference.. my grandparents wanted to become Americans. Forsaking the life they were leaving for dreams that went beyond their economic betterment. They wanted to contribute to their new country, in addition to taking from it.

I don't hear much of that kind of talk any more in the current discussions.

How about we should care what goes on in Mexico and its development so not as many Mexicans would cross the border into ours?

I just wish Mexico would worry the same way they do here about their people in Mexico and make a sincere effort to fix their problems but as it is Mexico gets a free ride. It's time for Mexico to confront their problems and fix them sending people here only allows the country to ignore any problems it has . Yeah it is time to shut off Mexico and force them to address their problems instead of their wallets

I for one,am sick of it!! I applied for a state job the other day and passed all the criteria except for one:I don't speak Spanish! When is this **** going to end? Mexicans can scream about discrimination all they want and get anything they DON'T NEED.

Why should I be forced to learn another language to get a better job?
