Why is it so bizarre to people that non-Christians have a sense of goodwill toward others and celebrating with family instead of spending the day in church? Who is to judge what someone does or doesn't do?

The Winter Solstice.

OKAY, boys and girls, here is a tale with a scary ending (for we Pagans).

The story of Christmas.

A long, long time ago, before we could measure time, humans did not know that the days got shorter after the harvest. Being agrarians, more commonly known as farmers, humans depended on the sun to grow food to survive. (As we still do of course) Then the first timepiece was invented and it was recorded that the days were getting shorter.

Panic and fear spread across the land!!! "Surely we will perish," was the anguished cries. As the dreaded day approached, families gathered and prepared to meet their doom. On December 21st, the shortest day of the year, they paid close attention to the following days.

AND THEN THE MIRACLE HAPPENED!!!! On December 22nd, the day grew a bit longer and on the 23rd the same again and on the 24th they knew that they had been saved!!

A celebration was in order so they planned for the event!! They wrapped presents and sang Carole's!! Far off relatives came to visit and to share in the joy of the season. Great tidings were had by all. Trees were decorated, wreaths were hung on the door to symbolize the fruits of the harvest.

All who believed celebrated the birth of the SUN!!!

2000 years ago, somewhere in the Middle east a typist was recording the holiday for posterity sake and the first typo appeared, "SUN" was somehow recorded as "SON" and here's the scary part boys and girls, the fighting hasn't stopped since!!!

Whatever your beliefs, whatever your religion, keep Love in your heart and Peace in your soul. If no one has told you they love you today, I DO, and there ain't nothing you can do about it.

Love is the greatest power in the universe, available to ALL who seek. Give some away today. Act like it's Christmas all year round and you will never lack for anything.

PEACE!!

The "true meaning of Christmas" is not biblical i.e. December 25th. But we do celebrate His birth during this season. Jesus was probably born in the spring if you look at all the scientific facts of the Bible.

Christmas is a national holiday. Some choose to make it religious. I am a Christian and choose to go to church because it is a holiday. While others commercialize it, there are those who do not. And yes---non-christians can be and are good people for the most part. And no one should judge the actions of others but God.

The word CHRIST is in Christmas because it is the day that Christians celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior. Easter is also a spirtual holiday. It's great that non-believers have a sense of goodwill toward other people, but, the true meaning of Christmas is Christ's birthday. I don't go to church, because the Bible says a church is not a building. I make my home a church and spend the day with my family as well. Christmas has become so commercialized that it's easy to celebrate without believing in Christ, But his name is in the word for a reason. Your sense of goodwill comes from the love of Christ spread around this time of year.

Only denominational "christians do this" not true Christians who only follow what God commands in his Inspired word.
Members of the Church of Christ do not celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday simply because it is NOT. Nowhere in God's word are we told to Celebrate Christ's Birthday. THIS is purely a man-made Holiday.
This is adding to God's word and He warns everyone NOT to add to his word or take away from his word in Rev. 22 Proverbs 30:6
Deuteronomy 4:2

TRUE CHRISTIANS stand alone on the word of God.

God tells us how to worship and if we do ANYTHING other than he commands it is wrong.

The true meaning is religious not because of the date but because the name originates form Jesus Christ the Son of God. so the true meaning is religious and that is just plain history. However most of the world celebrates Christmas as just a holiday and yes many are delightful people. It is officially a national not a religious holiday. So the celebration can be and mosty is secular but the true meaning is religious.

"whilst people pursue the delight in life, whilst people do no longer sacrifice their self in the present day for the self in an imaginary afterlife, they are able to be effective and that they tacitly properly known and practice the belief of Atheism." i think of that assertion isn't a reliable reflection of Atheists - do you easily have faith that Atheists are basically in touch approximately themselves longing for a narcissistic hedonist paradise on earth? Do you trustworthy have faith that in case you asked a spiritual Christian in the event that they sense they're "sacrificing themselves" or are no longer "taking section in life" they could say that that's authentic? No, you won't be able to well place Christians or Atheists into tiny handy communities, and that i think of that by utilising misrepresenting what they the two sense and picture destroys your familiar thesis. -- "i'm asserting that productiveness (progression for humanity) is accessible by utilising egocentric potential only." I disagree - i think of that progression for humanity is likewise embodied in compassion and selfless giving. "Egoism, on the different hand, is the gas for productiveness." that's, even with the undeniable fact that it is likewise the gas for violence and corruption. "Contemplative people supply no longer something to the international because of the fact they have not have been given any textile aspirations." the international does not revolve around textile wealth or earnings. the ideal information of it quite is interior the humanities - lots of the international's maximum appropriate artists have been airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dust undesirable.

Christmas was never about Christianity. Christmas is a pagan celebration that Catholics took over at the turn of the century. You dont need to believe in Jesus to be nice to your fellow man.
