I think it's wrong to use paper for such a frivolous use. Paper comes from trees. Also it is a waste of time and money. I'm not a scrooge, I give gifts wrapped in homemade reusable fabric gift bags. When I see a person whom has sent me a card I thank them but tell them my beliefs.

i don't think it's rude, but i hope you do something else instead of sending the cards....like make a xmas phone call (or whatever the occasion).....so long as you are acknowledging the occasion i don't see a problem....
i think thank you cards are a waste of time (but i do like getting/giving other cards)....whenever i give a gift i say that i don't want a thank you card....so i see where you're coming from

It's up to you if you send cards. I do it because I feel like I have to (business). I'd rather not since it is such a waste of time and money. Personally, I think you can thank someone for a card but keep your beliefs about sending cards to yourself.

Well, do what you want. You are not rude to not send cards. The only rude thing you do is bore people by telling them your beliefs. And sending cards is not frivolous. Sometimes it's the only contact people have with others they don't see often but, don't want to completely lose contact with. A way of letting others know we still think about them.

No I don't think it is wrong. I don't unless I fill it with writing and find a good one.

I definitely do not do the en-masse of Christmas cards. First there is the paper concern. Next what if I forget somebody, 3rd I really don't have time. 4th If you really care you would be making a bigger effort.

If you give gifts, the cards are not necessary. I don't really consider someone rude if they don't send me a Christmas card. By the way, I'm sure that post-consumer cards are available.

You should reciprocate the card giver's guesture, and it sounds like you do. But really, come on. It's a just a card, and I seriously doubt that will majorly damage the environment. Besides, as you said, paper comes from trees, which are a renewable resource. Maybe you can also add a note to the card that says "Please recycle me on Jan. 1"

Well, its great to know you are enviroment friendly. If you give them a call, and wish them happy holidays, or happy birthday, or whatever, then it wont be rude. You should tell people about your beliefs
