Given the time and the culture, it would be unlikely for him to NOT have a beard.

Yes he did he was a nazirene, nazir. In the bible it says, "And he will come from Nazareth." There is no such thing as a place called nazareth, only the Nazarenes which correct spelling is Nazirene, after Nazirite. Nazirenes don't cut their hair and especially NOT their beards.
