A fever is one of the general immune responses that happen when your body detects a foreign substance where it feels it should not be. If you have a bacterial infection, the elevated temperature could cause the infectious bacteria to die or be weaken, or slow the reproduction. This gives your body time to build up antibiotics to combat the infection. Viral infections are quicker and can cause the fever to appear quicker. Adverse stress could trigger an immune response.

If you haven't been getting enough sleep, your body wears itself out and your immune system weakens. Around this time of year it's very fast paced and go go go, so if you aren't allowing your body to rest and catch up ... your immune system won't be as strong against sickness. That and ... you could've easily gotten something from someone. Was it the Flu?

Most illnesses have a incubation period in which they reproduce enough to elicit a bodily reaction. We sleep a third of each day. So, we have a one in three chance of feeling the initial symptoms at night.
