I'm sorry about your dog. I love dogs too. i ahve advice for you is this
Pets observe every change in a household, and are bound to notice the absence of a companion. Pets often form strong attachments to one another, and the survivor of such a pair may seem to grieve for its companion. Cats grieve for dogs, and dogs for cats.

You may need to give your surviving pets a lot of extra attention and love to help them through this period. Remember that, if you are going to introduce a new pet, your surviving pets may not accept the newcomer right away, but new bonds will grow in time. Meanwhile, the love of your surviving pets can be wonderfully healing for your own grief.

i don't think you should get a new dog right away give it about 1 month
Generally, the answer is no. One needs time to work through grief and loss before attempting to build a relationship with a new pet. If your emotions are still in turmoil, you may resent a new pet for trying to "take the place" of the old-for what you really want is your old pet back. Children in particular may feel that loving a new pet is "disloyal" to the previous pet.

When you do get a new pet, avoid getting a "lookalike" pet, which makes comparisons all the more likely. Don't expect your new pet to be "just like" the one you lost, but allow it to develop its own personality. Never give a new pet the same name or nickname as the old. Avoid the temptation to compare the new pet to the old one: It can be hard to remember that your beloved companion also caused a few problems when it was young!

A new pet should be acquired because you are ready to move forward and build a new relationship-rather than looking backward and mourning your loss. When you are ready, select an animal with whom you can build another long, loving relationship-because this is what having a pet is all about!

Are you mental or something? I can't believe you put a 1 year old puppy down. Yes at one they are still a puppy. You shouldn't even have a dog right now let along looking to get another one.
Someone seriously needs to contact the humane services on you and get your dog taken away from you and have you fined or something for cruelty to animals. The only reason an animal should be put down is for health reasons, not just because you don't want to deal with it.
I'm absolutely disgusted and just pray that the dog you have runs away and finds a good home; and that no more animals come into your home!
You seriously need helped!!!!

Why do you need a second dog? Dogs tend to be very jealous and protective and they love to be the only one. Why can't you just spend lots of quality time with your dog that you have now?

If you feel a need to get a second dog. Go to a good shelter and find another dog that they know will get along with your dog. Shelters are all about making sure that the pet is permanently placed and fits well in your household. You can bring your dog to meet the new one on neutral ground.

I am sorry about the loss of your one year old.

What is with you?! I think you need to take your one remaining dog to a rescue shelter where she can have a loving home and be properly cared for. Your 1 year old dog was still a puppy. Most puppies are not well behaved, but can be trained. Did you bother to take your puppy to a trainer? Putting your dog to sleep for bad behavior was cruel and heartless. Would you put your children to sleep for bad behavior?

At 1 year old their is no behavior that could have been that bad. You shouldn't even have the dog that you do have. Even if the puppy had chewed the toes off of a child or something, that wouldn't be the puppy's fault because they chew things, it would have been yours for letting it alone with the child. If something like this did happen I am sorry for you but either way please don't get another dog. Doesn't sound like you can handle one.

Remember that behavior problems are due to the OWNER not the dog. So YOU should make sure to learn how to be a better owner so that you don't have to make a choice with your remaining dog. You owe it to your dog. The dog didn't make the choice to live with a poor owner.

I adopted a dog three years ago because the owners were having 'behavior problems'. He's now one of the top performers in the country for his breed.

Get this one trained properly by going to dog obedience classes. You messed up with the dog you put to sleep, because you should be in control, not the dog. Don't get any more dogs until you learn enough to raise them right.

You should have taken the other dog to a resuce group so they could find a better owner for it.

Firstly, as an animal lover...I cannot believe that you would put an animal to sleep because it couldn't behave, unless it your vet recommended you do so.
Take your poor dog to training school....where it can learn how to behave, and it sounds like you should go and get educated on your animal.
go to yahoo and search for tips on owning a dog.

Labs are the perfect dogs, they are obedient and smart. Take advantage of this and you can have a very rewarding relationship wtih your dog!

in case you basically positioned a one-3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous canines to sleep by way of its habit, (until eventually that habit replaced into that it attacked and maimed someone) for my section you do not favor to have yet another canines and probably shouldn't actually have the single you do have. putting a canines to sleep is a drastic answer to undesirable habit. you may't anticipate proper habit from any kind of puppy, and a a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous canines is technically nonetheless a domestic dog. i will not help yet experience like you're sadistic to do this. i extremely desire you don't get any extra pets. i'm sorry. i do not recommend to sound recommend, yet when I study your question it basically extremely hit a nerve and disillusioned me. i will't be the basically one which feels this kind.
