Yes and I am usually very squeamish about trying different foods. I went to a restaurant with my fiancee and we decided to order escargot and try it together. I believe there was some sort of bread with it and for the most part it was ok. It was drenched in a buttery sauce similar to shrimp scampi. I believe I actually ate 3 or 4 of the little guys. Having a drink of wine with it didn't hurt. I have been trying to try something new every once in awhile because you never really know what you might like until you try it. I still wont eat squid however (calamari) it's taking me sometime to get past the idea of eating something with tentacles. What other types of different foods have you tried?

I had escargot at a restaurant once. It was ok, but I did get a couple bites of sand which made it not so pleasant.
And, I literally reeked of garlic for 3 days after. Anyone within 10 feet of me was complaining. They must've used an entire bulb of garlic for each snail. I love garlic, but this was beyond crazy.
It wasn't good enough for me to have bothered ordering it again, it's been probably 12 years since.

Hi,Yes I've eaten them in classy resturants they call them Escargo, that spelling is probably wrong but you get it, they taste good and are not like the average snails you see in the park on a wet day, they are usually fed corn , from Corn on the Cob corn, meal the last few days of their lives and then they fatten up quite large, they taste good, and are usually served in butter, . the important thing is, forget they are snails and enjoy. OOPs, you already like them. I didn't read the whole question, Happy Holiday.

Yes, at a small restaurant in Lodi, NJ. They were baked in a bread bowl with garlic and cheese, yummo! My dad was military, we always tried the local favorites wherever we were.

Why not? Depending on snails (there are edible and there are poisonous). Cooked with coconut milk with chili is best.

Yes- I love them and so do my kids they are like mushrooms but better. When I was a kid my mom had a friend who brought us chocolate covered bugs - I liked the ants best they were like crispy and a little spicy.
