I am a Student Ambassador in the People to People program and I wanted to know if you could send me some information about getting a grant. I am currently a High School sophmore in Fairfax, VA with a 3.8 GPA. I have attended other leadership conferences and would like to add People to People to that list. The cost would be a financial hardship on my family and I'm looking for other ways to offset the cost. My next payment of 1,000 is due December 29, 2006. The total cost for my trip is $6,000 please let me know how I can get some sponsors.

truthfully finding a grant for that much amount is hard. i know this because I've been looking for a grant to. I'm also student ambassador from people to people. want I've tried doing is walking around local businesses and asking them if they would like to sponsor me. the problem with the grant is that most of them require you to be an organization or group.my advice is not to give up and keep trying. also try this one fundraiser where you ask people to donate old and used cellphones or ink cartridges, its work really good for me and I've made $400 so far.it's call phonerasier. i hope that helps

You can petition businesses in your neighborhood - some have programs and scholarships for just this thing. Don't just grab a phone book and start calling - have a script with what you need the money for and be sure to tell them you will run an ad (call the local paper it can be free for a community service!) thanking them for their support. You can also contact the Chamber of commerce and if you belong to a religion check with the leaders for their input. Good Luck!

Also try local newspapers and media outlets, as they often give scholarships to students. Try your church, too. Ask the program if they have grants, or ask them what has worked for other students in the program. You can also check with your parents' employers to see if they have scholarships available. You can ask People to People if they will give you more time, too.
Good luck!

Try local service organizations like Rotary, Lions Club, etc. You can also seek other philanthropical organizations in your area.
