well i'm agnostic because when i was in church and read the bible there were things that bothered me about god and one of the things was that he admits to being a jealous god and he will destroy those who are not obedient and there was violence like crazy in the old testament which makes me wonder if god exists or not and if it's just a man made concept or if it's not a man made concept then it's like what kind of god is this god that everybody loves and worships if you think for yourself you're damned but if you obey and are ignorant then you're safe does that really make sense you know what i mean

I've always thought that an argument from design rather supports the odds that God is evil, or non-existent.

I like it! I personally believe that the Christian god is evil already. He has already classified himself as a jealous god, and that is the gateway to evil.

ummm.... no...?.... why would you even think that? Look down, look around and you think he's evil? An only just and not merciful God would have made us all burn in Hell forever because we deserve it that would have been perfectly fair. But he is merciful as well as just so he lets those who believe in him and trust him and love him live with him in Paradise. Seems pretty benevolent to me, doesn't it?

I would think that with both good and bad in the world, it would be likely that if any god existed, it would be a mix of both.

you have to tell people a god is benevolent, because most people would not choose to worship an evil god

yes, there are equal chances he might be evil, just as he might be a she, or he/she might be a figment of our imaginations altogether. the question really hurts, but now i feel better--thanks.

I think that God is what we think of as the benevolent God and Satan all in one. It's called non-duality and the Hindu goddess Kali is the personification of this idea.

Read up on Kali.

The chances are not near as equal. I wouldn't say 'evil'.... who are we to call God evil, we are the ones that kill, rape, torture, etc. God is good but JUST!!! Now that is the truth.... can you handle that?
