Saved: Having been rescued from danger or possible harm, injury, or loss..

In the terms dealing with God, it means the same thing but in a spiritual sense. To be rescued from the danger and harm of damnation.

It consists of trusting Jesus to give it to you based on the blood He shed for you on the cross and your acceptance of the gift... Jim

Dear Cyn,

"Saved" is a term that refers to being reconciled to God. We (mankind) have transgressed God's commandments or laws and this is called "sin". The result of transgressing or breaking God's laws is "damnation" or to be under the wrath of God. However, before the sentence can be carried out, there must be a trial to present the evidence. God is absolutely just and so no one can receive judgment prior to their trial. A person found guilty of breaking God's commandments will then be cast into the lake of fire (hell) to endure eternal punishment.
The only hope for a person (because we are ALL guilty) is for someone else to pay the penalty of sin for us. That individual would be a substitute or "scapegoat" for the guilty party. There is only one person that can fulfill the role of the substitute and that is the God-Man, Jesus Christ (LORD).
The Lord created man in His image and likeness and that is why we are accountable to Him. When man disobeyed (sinned) God, he died spiritually and was cut off from God (Life). Man was physically alive but spiritually DEAD. Man could no longer "hear" God nor obey His commands. The LORD in His great mercy determined to "save" some of these rebels to live with Him forever.
Paying for the sins of these chosen ones (elect) is one great miracle. However, another miracle is that the Lord must give them a "new soul". They were DEAD spiritually but they need to receive a new heart or soul. This is a miracle also. The Bible says, "So then, faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God." FAITH is a synonym for the Lord Jesus. So then, Christ cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. The miracle of salvation always takes place in the environment of "hearing the word of God" (the Bible). That is why a person who is not saved, should be reading or listening to the Bible and praying that the Lord might have mercy on him/her. This will not ensure the individual that he/she will be saved but will put them in the environment to be saved if God has elected them. Ephesians 1:3-5 tells us that God chose the elect before the foundation of the world, but we do not know who these "elect" ones are. God is no respector of persons.

It's going to vary with a lot of different people.

You have to believe in God, the Bible, Jesus and that Jesus is the Son of God sent by God to be the saviour of mankind.

Then you need to learn the ways of Jesus and God, become "born again" which is a very misused and loose term, that means you see life differently than before via the knoweldge and love of God and Jesus and the meanings of the scriptures. YOu accept JEsus as your personal lord and saviour.

You need to be baptized in water and receive the holy spirt.

Then live a good life as Jesus wanted and God wanted. Going out and preaching is an option, but you tend to find yourself doing it automatically because you want to share and give back.

Most importantly, these things I'm speaking of are NOT rituals, like going up before a minster to marry a woman and mouthing the words because it's expected. You are expected to truly believe and understand and stick by your vows.

Also undestand "being" saved doesn't necessarily waranty your name will be in the book of life or that you will see heaven.

God and Jesus are not interested in shallow people looking for a free ride in exchange for learning some secret handshake or working a decoder ring.

You are expected to do right and never willfully do wrong or follow the wrong path or the wrong people.

You are expected to understand Jesus and God's view of how things work inside and out and make ALL your actions and deeds as they would.

To put it bluntly, if you enroll with Weight Watchers and still find yourself at Dairy Queen a couple of times a week you aren't going to lose weight and you will not get the salvation you sought!

Like many have already stated, being saved simply means that you have now confessed a belief in Jesus Christ as the son of God and believe that confession in your heart. Once this is done you receive the gift of eternal life or more simply you now have your ticket into heaven. What is important about salvation is to know that you can NEVER lose it once you have TRULY confessed and believed. There is NOTHING that can take your salvation.

First, you would have to come to Jesus in the way that he commanded. The popular belief is that one would utter some prayer and that, by faith, one would become a christian. However, there is no scriptural example of such found anywhere in the bible. Jesus, when he gave the Great Commission to his disciples, told them to go into all the world and preach the gospel. Whoever believed and were baptized would be saved. Those who didn't believe would be damned. (Mark 16:15,16) In fact, there are ten examples in the bible of those who came to be saved after obeying the gospel of Jesus Christ. What is the gospel? According to the Word, the gospel is the good news of the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). One would first have to hear about this (Romans 10:17) and then believe this (Hebrews 11:6). Afterwards, one must repent of their sins (Luke 13:3,5), then confess Jesus Christ to be the Son of God (Matthew 10:32,33; Acts 8:36,37). Then, they must be baptized, in water, for the remission of their sins (Acts 2:38). Afterwards, they are to live faithfully unto death (Revelation 2:10). This is the bible way of being saved. This is the way that Jesus sanctioned for one to be saved. You cannot "receive Christ" or "accept Christ as your personal savior" if you haven't accepted him on "His" terms. Jesus gave the instructions to the Apostles and the Apostles gave them to us. Coming at him in a way that he never specified makes one a thief and a robber (John 10:1-2).

In order to see what others did to be saved, read the book of Acts. You will notice that everyone who was considered saved did the exact same thing. There were no differing methods to receive salvation. All of them started with one hearing the gospel and ended with one being baptized for the remission of their sins. Plus, they didn't have to go and search for a church to join, God added them to the church (Acts 2:47). Which church?? There was only one. According to God, Jesus Christ, his apostles and his disciples, there is still only one! Jesus said that he would "build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18. The church was established on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2), where nearly three thousands souls were added to it on day one, after they obeyed the gospel.

To be saved is to be spared the punishment due you for your sins. Christ died on the cross for the sins of His people. He took the punishment due you upon Himself. Those who are of the called, the elect, those whose names have been written in the book of life from the foundations of the earth, will be saved. You can do nothing to gain it, it is a gift of grace, you can not bring it yourself, all humans, without the intervention of the Holy Spirit, are dead in trespasses and sin. Only by God's sovereignty and grace are His people, His sheep, saved. Since you do nothing to gain it, you cannot lose it. God does not lose one of His people. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. This is Biblical, although there may be some churches who try to add works to it (saying a prayer, "accepting" Christ, being good, etc), it is a total work of God, we have nothing to do with it.

Being saved is when a person accepts Jesus into his/her life as Lord and Saviour and confessing that He is God in Flesh, He is the risen saviour who came to die on the cross for our sins. It also involves confessing that you are a sinner and that you need God in your life. It is just the first step in becoming a Christian. I may have missed something. Do you want to get saved or for more information go to www.wayofthemaster.com you might see a familiar famous face there.

To be saved is to escape going to hell by having faith in the Lord Jesus. That means to admit to God that you are a sinner and have rebelled against his commands. Then You accept the gift of salvation though Jesus. Jesus died on the cross to take our punishment for our sins. God knew we could not live a perfect life so he came to us in human form as Jesus to be a sacrifice. All you have to do is accept the free gift that Jesus offers you. Then ask Jesus to come into your heart and shape your life to reflect his. Just talk to God.He will lead you.

Being saved is a Christian concept. It means that when you die, you will go directly to Heaven. Heaven is life everlasting in the presence of God and Jesus (again, Christianity).

To be saved, you need to:
1. Accept the gift of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus. (To do this, pray to God and say that you accept the gift of salvation through the sacrifice of the son, Jesus).
2. Pray to God the Father, in the name of Jesus, and ask forgiveness for your sins.

But wait, there's more:
After you're saved, it's your duty to tell anyone who hasn't been saved of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus.

Enjoy your newfound Christianity.

It mean that you are hanging by one hand off of a skyscraper and there is a pack of rabid pitbulls above you and an annoyed kitty clawing you r legs and then someone comes and shoots the dogs, shakes the cat off and pulls you to safety -- that is saved.
