You can read the students a story like, "It looked like spilt milk" . They all love this story. Have the students identify what the pictures on each page remind them of . ( They are all abstract white shapes formed by spilt milk)
Show the children pictures of clouds that have hidden pictures in them. You can make them yourself with cotton balls or check out some websites by looking up "cloud formations"... I found great pics of clouds online...Have the children identify what is hidden in teach of the pictures.
After reading the story, give each child a dark color paper and cotton balls. Have them glue the cottonballs on the paper to form an identifiable object or shape. Have volunteers guess what the other children's creations are. All answers are acceptable, and then the artist can share what he meant the shape to look like.
Another activity with this book would be to fold a dark color paper and place a spoon of white paint on one side. Have each child fold their paper and press down. after they open their paper, have them say what they think their shape looks like.
This is a great activity for preschoolers, kdgners etc. It covers all content areas.... Language arts:It promotes the use of the imagination, sparks creativity, language development and is also open ended! It teaches the use of abstract design(art), symmetry,(math) and (science- weather awareness)etc.
With this lesson, you will impress your interviewers!!!! Have fun,,,, good luck.

Ah, the days of preschool are still somewhat easy for me to recollect, so here's my two cents...

As previously stated, Duck-duck-goose is a good game to break the ice, as is Heads-up-Seven-up.
Coloring is always a good thing if you need them to be calm for a bit.

For the holidays they could glue together three popsickle sticks in the shape of a triangle, glue on felt antlers and shakey-eyes, as well as a black nose...And tah-dah! Rudolph the red-nose reindeer.
Or for something less-Christmasy, they could decorate felt circles as ornaments, or a tree or something..

Good luck!

Since it is the winter season, you could have precut circles and help the children make snowmen. Use triangles to make the eyes and nose. This way you help them learn shapes. A rectangle can be used for the hat. Also this is a way to review colors, if you wish.

Well what you could do is.....you can see if they all know their ABC's and if not then teach them that, and see if they know they shapes and sizes and their colors. those should be easy for them the first month you work with them. Or you could make something fun and tell them to make a pretty picture for their mommy's and their daddy's.
