My daughter, who's 9 years old, thinks it's unfair that I have her doing dishes on a daily basis. Mind you, I only have her do them once a day. I always tell her to leave the knives and pots for me to wash, and she does the plates, cups and utensils. Am I wrong for having her do dishes at this age?

God, no!!! 9 years old is a perfectly normal age to be given responsibilities like that, you just don't see it very much because so many people are paranoid that they're being too harsh.
Doing the dishes is not a horrific punishment you are inflicting upon your daughter. It is a very good way to begin emphasizing responsibility. Good parenting, in my opinion. :)

I wish my Mom would have told me not to wash knives, pots and pans!!!!! She is learning responsiblity, do not blow this.
