When cutting computer on---
message says..

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINNT\SYSTEM\CONFIG\SYSTEM32
You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the orginal setup CD-ROM
select 'r' at the first screen to start repair

anyway to manually repair??
whats the orginal setup CD-Rom?

Create a Windows 2000 boot disk that contains the following files:
Ntldr
Ntdetect.com
Boot.ini
Ntbootdd.sys

2. Modify the Boot.ini file to point to the proper hard disk controller and volume for your Windows installation.
3. Use the boot disk to restart the computer.
4. Copy the Boot.ini and Ntbootdd.sys files from the boot disk to the system partition on the local hard disk.

Windows is telling you that you should run a repair installation, this usually happens when a necessary system file has been corrupted... You need to do a repair install. If you have a windows xp installation CD follow these steps.

If you have a system restore CD that came with your computer boot to first CD, You may have to enter your bios setup to have the computer boot to your cd rom.

The original setup CD should have come with your computer when you bought it and it should be labeled Setup CD or some such. If you didn't get one, or lost the one you got, you should be able to contact the manufacturer for a replacement. It'll cost you a few bucks to get a new one.

what is the name of the file? that is the folder name ..... the original setup CD-ROM would be the Windows CD that came with your computer or a recovery CD that came with it.

You need the original CD which was used to install Windows.
If you can't find the CD, you can contact MS for the product key. They might send you a new CD.
