One thing is to wrap it at nite with a silk scarf so it doesnt dry your hair out. Also you could try flat ironing it everyday. But make sure to use a conditioner as to not fry your hair.

I guess it just depends on how fast you have new growth coming in. I usually onl get one every 2 1/2 months and this whole method has worked wonders for me and my hair is to the middle of my back. The healtiest my hair had ever been.

And there is nothing wrong with at home perms if you read the instructions correctly!! If anything salon perms are more harsher on your hair is not the same as at home ones!!!

Perms are not the same as when your mom was little!!!

I don't think there is one, but I know that it really depends on your beautician because I used to go to this lady who used to over process my hair. So I got a new one and that one didn't give me perms every week, but my hair lasted a long time. Now I don't have a perm I haven't permed it since October of 2005, my hair still looks good and a press lasts for at least 2 weeks. It is week 2 and it's still straight.

Only you know your hair, So i would say that you need to go to a beauty shop and talk to the stylist and let her feel what grain of hair you have. But there is one perm that is great It's called Dudley it come in all different type for all different kind of hair. It's not harsh and it last longer then any perm I have ever used. GOOD LUCK...

In order to get good results from a perm make sure you leave it in long enough. Afterwards make sure you grease your hair good and don't put alot of chemicals on your hair. Make sure you get another perm within the next three months. Also you must change type of perms every year in order to get the best results.

go to a salon. not only will your perm turn out the way you want it, but they'll be able to answer your questions and sell you products that will help your perm stay. But keep in mind no perm will last forever.

Affirm is a really effective relaxer, but have it applied by a professional at a salon. I pride myself in putting in perms very well, but I can never get it quite as straight as when my stylist does it.

I do not suggest going to chains though....those places mostly do not know how to properly care for ethnic hair.

I also suggest applying base to your scalp and hairline. This gives the chemical a good amount of time to work without hurting or damaging your hair.

Good luck, and if you need a site to locate black hairstylists try the one below.

At-home perms are not going to last as long as salon quality perms. At-home perms/relaxers are also harsher on your hair.

I would suggest calling around to chain salons (such as JcPenney's, Regis, Cost Cutters, etc.) and ask if there are stylist that specialize in these areas. They use salon quality perm chemicals for a reasonable price.

By taking care of it.

Always wrap it up nightly. I roll my up every night with hair curlers. I add a hair dressing to hair and scalp and message it in at least twice a week. I spray my hair with an oil sheen spray daily. I never use heated hair appliances on my hair, that causes hair to dry out and break off. I do not over comb and brush my hair that causes your hair to stretch and break off. Never use a hair spray on your hair. causes to dry out and become brittle and break off. Never use rubber bands or donuts on my hair. The rubber will cause the hair to become tangled and break off. Keep getting touch ups only on the new growth.

Wear curlers to bed. Also buy a shampoo like pantene that is made to make curls look shinier and softer. Ps. I wish alot more women had curly hair it's a really sexy look.

I've heard that a nuclear bomb will give people permanent orange afros, as well as sucking all the paint off of the walls of their house. A bit extreme, though, if you ask me.
