Why is losing weight so hard and difficult? I am not as active as i need to be and I take medications that make me hungry all the time. I need to lose a good amount of weight. How can I do this and keep the weight off. I dont want to be a size 3 but would be happy with a size 12-14 I would look great. what are ways you lost weight healthily and kept it off for life? I just don't know what to do anymore and I dont want health problems to happen b/c of the weight.

Congratulations on being realistic! :o)

You might want to consider going to the Weightloss forum at About.com. You will have to register and sign in but it's worth it. There are good articles as well as the forum. You'll find other people there in the same situation, some successful and some not. I lost 70 lbs. and have kept it off for for two years. I did it following Atkins and am planning on staying on it for life at my doctor's recommendation. It helps eliminate food cravings and controls cholesterol. It's not at all what the media has made it out to be...

I've learned (after a lifetime of struggling) that most important things in weightloss and maintenance success are...

1. You have to want to lose the weight more than you want to eat. That sounds pretty simple but it's not.

2. You MUST find the plan that's most appropriate for you that you will be happy with for life. That may mean switching from time to time while you are losing. It's easy to stay on almost any plan as long as you have the scale as your reward. The going gets tough when there are no longer rewards or nice comments from those around you.

3. Plan, plan, plan. Without a good plan for tough situations you're setting yourself up for failure.

You CAN do this. Just make sure you have good support. I found mine at About.com and know I couldn't have done it or continued to maintain without those wonderful people.
