In my opinion, I think a group is 5 or less people. I would consider anything more a party.

A 'group' of people does not necessarily share an activity.

Depends on who you ask...you have many choices in your responses. When at a restaurant the hostess uses the term "party" of _ _ whatever, even if it is a party of one.
