God created humans to love him, and without freedom there can be no true love.
God promises eternal life and happiness to those who love him, so the suffering in this life will be like nothing compared to that.
We do not know the end of the story; and, with our limited perspective, we couldn't understand it anyway. We can assume that a God who created for love will make everything good in the end. Apparently he thinks freedom is worth the price.

Great question.
Love cannot exist unless you and I have the right to choose it or reject it, so God gave us the right to choose, knowing that some would choose love, and others would not.
Without freedom to choose, God would be a stalker...and stalking is selfishness, not love.
Real love is not selfish...it gives. When we reject love, we choose selfishness by default. When you have six billion little "gods" running around on the same planet, all wanting do do their own thing, then you are going to have major league trouble.
God knew this when He gave us the right to choose or reject His love, but He did it anyway...because love is more wonderful and powerful than sin and death, and in the end, love wins.

Free Will allows us to know God for our self as opposed to going thru a Priest. I don't see how you associate 'Free Will' with guilt, shame Etc, Etc, Etc.
Adam & Eve are characters in a fable; they set the stage in a Non-fictional story.
The only way to understand God is to understand yourself. Without 'Free Will' self knowelege is unattainable.

I don't know why God chooses to do what he does, but the story of Adam and Eve certainly shows us how weak we are as far as our own abilities to choose God. The truth is, no one seeks Him, He must choose us. The good news is that He has not only chosen His own, but chosen them from before the foundations of the earth.

It is difficult to do good things for robots. God didn't want robots.
The fact is, we each have choices. And it is in no way God's fault that some make the wrong choices.
The other side of those who want to blame God is that He doesn't allow them ENOUGH free will for their lifestyle.
Each must responsibilty for their choices.

God told Adam and Eve not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. He didn't say, "eat if ya want or don't eat, its your free choice".

Because the purpose of this life is to learn and grow. Without the ability to make choices neither of those goals could be accomplished.

If you look in the four gospels(Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) you will notice that the Lord continually states that it takes sacrifice and giving your all in order to be in his presence in heaven. If we had someone else making our decisions for us, then what would be the point of us being tested on earth?

Well then you should not have posted it here.
The reason God allowed Free will is because he wanted us to partake of the evil and make the choice to do right.
God wants us to choose him not be his capture or some blind fool.

Because love can only be a product of free will, the Lord wants us to love Him, it is impossible to be forced into loving somebody, if he forced us to it would be a false love made up of fear. At least thats how I've always looked at it.
