Mix puppy formula or canned goat milk (diluted with equal parts water) with a quality puppy kibble, soaked until it is moist..serve warm. You will find goat milk at the grocer's with other canned milk..
Puppy formula can be found at any pet supply shop, livestock supplies, and large stores such as WalMart.

When a puppy cant nurse for what ever reason, you use canned goat milk with a water mixture at a 50/50 ratio. Try this by bottle if you have to or by dish. The puppy is still young enough it needs a every 4 to 6 hour feeding cycle. Start introducing some canned food now or atleast by 5 weeks. By 8 weeks you should be worked up to moistened dry dog food. Good Luck! Call you vet and see what they say before starting any feeding plan.

if the mother is not there you could buy a formula for puppies and feed it that, it will not give as much nutrients but it will keep it living. If you have trouble on when to feed it solid food you should find the phone number of a breeder that sells puppies of the breed that you have and ask when to change. Ask about the right breed b/c I know that some puppies have to be different ages before they can change.
Hope I Helped!!!!

If the puppy is one month old - try it on some puppy chow. You can get this at your local pet store or grocery store. They have a wet (canned) variety and dry variety. Try the puppy on either or both and see if he or she eats it. If not, you might want to get some puppy formula (which you can also get at a pet store) and start out with that, and mix in some wet puppy food. But most 4 month old puppies will eat puppy chow. If the pup still won't eat, take him or her to a vet right away.
If you have a one WEEK old puppy, the pup should not yet be away from its mother and should still be drinking milk.

A four week old puppy still requires its mother milk. A puppy is generally not weaned until 6 to 8 weeks old and ready to be pulled from it's mother at about 8 weeks. Obviously mother is not around to teach it how to eat, so you should feed it through a bottle if available and begin to wean it onto some softened dry food. Just add a little water or milk to a few pieces of dry food and see if it will eat it. This will take some time, but it will eat eventually. Gradually add less and less moisture to the food until it is eating completely dry food around 9 - 10 weeks old.

A one month old dog should still be on it's mothers milk, and should not be taken away from it's Mom until it is at least 6 weeks of age.
You can go to a Petco or Petsmart to get a milk-substance to feed your puppy through a bottle.
If your puppy is 6 weeks or older, than you start it on puppy food. Good ones are Purina, Merrick, and Iams. Talk to your vet for more information.

Is it a month or a week old? There's a big difference.
At pet stores you can buy dog formula and I'd also feed wet puppy food. The best thing would be to take it to the vet and ask there.

a month or a week old???? either way, puppy chow by purina, moistined with water, is best,,, unless it is considered too small or not capable , to eat solid food, if so, contact a vet or a major store , like PetSmart, and ask them what to feed it , i think a one week old puppy , might be to small, and would need to be feed some type formula out of a bottle,,,, though i got my daughters puppy from the humane society when it was a few weeks old, and it could eat solid wet food

the feeding directions and the daily amount is written on the puppy food bag, please be sure you are buying puppy food, not dog food.
if the pup needs the food a little soft, go to a grain store, and buy some powdered milk, the directions for the amount of water to add are on the bag, the scoop is inside of the powdered milk.
mix the puppy food with the powdered milk and let it soak for a few minutes.
if you pup can eat the puppy food dry, you will not need the powdered milk.
make sure the pup is current on his first puppy shots and that he has had his first worming treatment.

well..if the puppy is a week old and for some reason cant be with the mother it needs puppy milk replacement...if its a month old some of them can be started on soft food at this age but for the next couple weeks i personally would give it a little soft food as well as puppy milk replacement. you can ask your vet where to get the milk replacement or get it at any pet shop. and please for clarity next time proof read your question so everyone can know what they are reading.

Is it a week or a month? Why do you have it whem it is too young to be away from its mother? Was the pup born at your home? The pup needs to be nuring the mom for another 2 weeks or more, then you can feed it puppy food.
