I have a 6 month Schengen student visa and would like to go to Geneva for the day, do I need a visa? I have recently travelled to Switzerland on a student visa but it was for one year.

It all depends on your nationality - a Schengen visa as such does not allow you in (yet) automatically - see the suggested link.

A Schengen visa won't help as Switzerland is not in the EU. Where do you come from? The Swiss are horrible to foreigners so don't take any chances on slipping in unnoticed.

As of last december, switzerland has been included in the Schengen zone. So either of the two visas you mentioned would allow you to stay in switzerland and visit the rest of Europe. Have a good time in swiss!

Contact the Swiss embassy in Paris and ask them. The information you get here might not always be accurate.
