If you outlaw handguns the only thing you will be doing is restricting the law-abiding citizens right to own one. The criminals, on the other hand, will still have handguns. So, you just take away a persons right to defend themselves. Do you really think criminals are going to rob or threaten someone who they don't even know whose armed and whose not? You just restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens, and make them more venerable to the criminals.

Goes back to the old saying "If guns were outlawed then only outlaws would have guns". Let me give you some Stats-According to the U.S. Dept of Health & Human Services there are 700,000 Doctors in the U.S. There are 120,000 accidental deaths caused by Doctors each year....That is 17.1% per Doctor. According to the FBI there are 80 Million gun owners in the U.S. with an accidental death rate of 1,500....That is 0.0000188% per gun. Doctors are 9,000 times more deadly than guns....I pee my pants when I go to Doctors but I enjoy the shooting range and hunting....Maybe you should get a gun for good health....

Personally, I don't have a hand gun and I don't pee my pants. So I'm not a paranoid folk. As far as handguns, hey it's America and since the death penalty doesn't stop murder, I'm sure that banning handguns, as you might like, wouldn't stop killing either.

It would never happen -- criminals would find a way to smuggle handguns into the U.S. and use them for whatever crimes they saw fit. The end result there would be a country that would be less safe in one way (possibly safer in another, but I'm betting it would all come out as a wash). By the way, statistics show that the counties in the U.S. that have the highest rates of gun ownership by private citizens have the LOWEST crime rates. Stick THAT in your Bush-bashing bong and smoke it...

What was it like in the Superdome after the hurricane? All of the people who were herded into that cesspool were searched and disarmed at the doors. So there must have been no violence, no assaults, no rapes - right? After all - there were no guns in there - so the root cause of all evil wasn't around. Ahh - just like heaven!

every country that outlaws guns sees crime rates skyrocket. some criminals will always get ahold of guns or make them so it ends up a big mess. and even if a criminal cant get his hands on a gun, all they need is a big knife or something cause they know they can go into a house and the homeowner at worst might confront them with a baseball bat or kitchen knife.

When you can GUARANTEE me that my family and I won't become the victims of a violent criminal in our own home.....THEN come talk to me about a USA without handguns.......until then?
