In and of itself, it is not necessarily a sin. However, because the laws are written to make it illegal, then using it becomes a sin, because you are a lawbreaker, and can bring shame to the Name of the Lord.
Further, if it is a controlling influence in one's life, then it is sin, because it has become their "god." Paul teaches, "Everything is permissible for me, but not everything is helpful. Everything is permissible for me, but I will not allow anything to control me." (I Corinthians 6:12)
Of course, Paul can be talking about anything that gets in the way of our devotion to God.

A sin...hahahahaha! Ridiculous. You're gonna believe a book that has absolutely no provable origin. It's a big game of operator where alot of people had their hands all over it...free to change whatever they want.
No-one can prove anything about Jesus except that a man who was a carpenter existed and was named Jesus. That's all they can prove.
Nothing is a sin...things are right and wrong. Drugs are typically a self inflicted crime against one's self. I believe that people have the right to do what they will within reason...as long as no-one is being physically hurt or emotionally hurt to the point of physical abuse I don't see the wrong in it. Light up.
Marijuana is actually a really harmless drug...does less damage to you than alcohol and that is a proven fact. It's not a "gateway drug" as people claim...if anything is, it's alcohol. People are gonna try what they are gonna try because they want to...not because they already tried this or that...that's absurd.
They give it to people to help with glaucoma, cataracts and believe it or not...asthma. I think those are some pretty good medical purposes. Nevermind that if it were legal, people would probably be in a better mood generally speaking...I've never seen anyone whose smoked pot be violent towards anyone. And being a smoker for the last 9 years...I've been around alot of them/it.
Light up dude...you just may save your mind.

Although the Bible hes nothing to say about marijuana in particular, it does say that the body is the temple of the soul, as well as the Holy Ghost if one is saved. Ask this instead: If you were standing in the presence of God the Father on judgement day, would you fire up a joint? I used to smoke it. God dealt with me about it, and I no longer smoke it. The Word says to be sober minded. Being stoned is not being sober minded. I smoked for over 25 years, so I know. Using something for a genuine medical reason is not a sin, unless you abuse it for purposes of being high.

I'm not religious, but as a former Catholic I will ask you to consider this: If God created marijuana plants, and he ordered man to make use of what's on the earth, how could smoking a joint now and then be sinful?
Marijuana is illegal because the pharmaceutical companies want it to be. If you smoke dope, it's unlikely you'll need Prozac, Effexor, Ativan or Valium. And you might also use less alcohol, which undercuts the tax revenues. Marijuana will only become legal when Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Astra Zeneca and the other drug companies figure out a way to grow it in secret and sell it themselves.

Yes. We should follow both Jehovah's Laws and Man's. It is sinful to "smoke" marijuana as it is sinful to smoke. Smoking is a horrid abuse of our bodies. It is also, in many areas, illegal to even possess Marijuana. So by going so far as to smoke weed is breaking both the laws of Jehovah and the Government. My father, who is slowly, painfully, dying of cancer, at one point took an anti-nausea medicine that is based, in root form on marijuana but is legal and in pill form. So if needed, why take the illegal form when a legal safe form is available.

YES!! it is bad because u get addicted and u lose ur happiness and God doesn't want that. it is a way that the devil uses for people to be lured and to be bound by him. its also a gateway drug that will get u in a lot of other bad stuff. medical purposes? no, its benefits arent that great and its bad things are a lot of stuff. i knew a friend who was christian and then started smoking mj, he came less and less to church, finally he totally was addicted- HE LOVED MJ MORE THAN GOD!! -that is why it is a sin. it takes the place of God. my friend came back to church and talked with the pastor cuz he wanted help. he went to a special rehab and got into the ministry. to follow God all the way u have to leave pot. God will help you leave it if u ask Him to. he's done a similar miracle for me from something else.
P.S. to the guy who said that we have almost no proof of Jesus, we have more proof that Jesus existed than we have that Julius Ceaser or Alexander the Great existed. well known fact.

The Bible says that our Body's are the temple if God, and that we should not harm the temple of God! Which smoking anything harms the body, thats known and been tested by man! So yes i consider it a sin! I smoke Cigg's, and yes i believe that it is wrong, do i believe that it is going to send me to hell? No i dont because that is something that i am trying my hardest to stop doing, and that is between me and God! Now am i getting high from smoking cigg's Um No, so i'm not doind it for pleasure, i am doing it because i am addicted 2 it, and it is easier said then done to stop! I when i was younger smoked alot of things and pot was one of them, i smoked pot more so than cigg's yes i quit smokin it, and no it was not hard for me to do so, i over came that, but cigg's are very hard for me for some reason! The Bible says that when we convert ourselfs over to a righteouss mind, and ask God to forgive us for all sin, that we are to turn away from those things and never turn back, and that we are to only dwell on righteouss things. We are to turn away from the world, and the worldly things So.... That answers it!

The "medical value" is in certain ingrediants... they are best in medicaly deliverable forms...not smoked.... any act that is against the Word and Will of God is a sin... if one is not of The True Christian faith then they are not bound by the law of God so they can do whatever they can getaway with under man's law.... for me it would clearly be a sin...

Sin is a religious term, so I don't use it, but I do consider drug abuse to be extremely inadvisable for health reasons. I personally don't need drugs to enhance my enjoyment of life, but I do support the legalized use of marijuana when prescribed by a physician for legitimate health purposes.

I used to smoke before becoming a Christian and looking back on that life I see that it was a sin. Anything that you do purposefully to hurt your body is a sin. We are told that we should honor God by taking care of our body because it is the dwelling place of the holy Spirit.
