Opiates, as should be obvious from the name, are derivitives of opium. These will include vicodin, codeine, oxycontin. The side effects for these are minimal (unless you are alergic), and can include dry mouth, dizziness, headache. The effects of the drug vary depending on the variety and dosage, but mostly they make you feel somewhat euphoric, a little sleepy, and a little dopey. Enjoy!!

I'm guessing your prescription is for codeine. No nausea, I was given it when my jaw was wired shut so thank God. Side effects are sleepiness and just feeling out of it. Other than that, your body feels great. Just follow the dosage closely.

Everyone is different and reacts to drugs in different ways. Codeine makes me violently ill, so I don't take it. Vicodin, for some odd reason, does not do this to me. It makes me itch. I've met people who have had the exact opposite reaction, so take it once and if it doesn't agree with you, quit taking it. Ask your doctor for something else and explain what happened. Your doctor works for YOU. You are the consumer/customer. They should be able to give you something you don't react to so badly if it's necessary.
