You can eat anything you like with tuna steaks. As yet it's a free country. As to what goes best, it's also a matter of taste. Personally I like small potatoes boiled in their skins and steamed fennel.

Yum, love tuna steaks. First had them years ago covered in a black peppercorn sauce - like a pepper steak! Delicious.

These days I prefer them simple. So grilled until they are still rare, and served with a good salad, maybe a few new potatoes, and a good salad dressing, plenty of lemon and herbs.

Otherwise, marinade them in a chilli/lime mix and grill, serve with rice.

Or grill them and serve as you would beef steak with chips!

My Dr said that I could as long as it is less then 6 oz. Precooked weight, that they were cooked all the way through and were not from a fatty tuna like Blue or yellow fin, she said to stick with Albacore or Ahi no more than once a week. That was my first question to my Dr. when we started discussing the can and cannots of what I could eat.

Herb rice and a fresh vegetable are good compliments to tuna steaks.

i cook this all of the time, grilled tuna with lemon crushed potatoes, it's a lovely light meal

Ingredients
½ tuna steak
salt
freshly ground black pepper
2 tbsp olive oil
For the potatoes
½ potato, diced
1 lemon, juice only
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp chopped chives and parsley
For the viniagrette
1 tomato, finely diced
½ lemon, juice only
¼ leek, finely chopped
¼ pack mushrooms, finely sliced
4 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp dijon mustard
salt
freshly ground black pepper

Method
1. Boil the potato in plenty of boiling, salted water. Drain well and return to the pan.
2. Stir in the other potato ingredients, slightly breaking up the potato dice but not mashing them.
3. Gently soften the chopped leeks in one tablespoon of olive oil.
4. Add them to a bowl along with all the other vinaigrette ingredients.
5. Stir through to mix and coat all the ingredients.
6. Season the tuna with plenty of salt and black pepper.
7. Sear in a hot pan for 1-2 minutes on each side so that it is still slightly pink in the middle.
8.Then serve with vinegarette

I'd like to eat dinner at David C's house!
I'm in agreement with potatoes and a green vegetable.

I would do rice pilaf instead of potatoes because tuna is kind of a "heavier" fish. Then jullienne carrots with butter and galic powder or asparagus with slivered almonds.

Green beans and avocado salad, dressed with red chillies, fresh coriander, soya sauce and sesame oil... And a little plain basmati rice to balance it all out.
Perfect.
