You'll be surprised to learn that, ACCORDING TO what is written in THE BIBLE, ONLY #(2) of your question can be answered with certainty.
And the answer for that would be "East."
The rest of it is pure FABRICATION by the RC Church since it is NOT BIBLICALLY supported at all. There is no mention of the "THREE" wise men, but there instead there were "SOME" wise men --who were all NAMELESS-- who came to Bethlehem looking for the Child.
Sorry, but that's how it is written...
Peace be with you.

Read the first 12 verses of the second chapter of Matthew. That is the ONLY Biblical information on these guys. Everything else is pious tradition, the names (Gaspar/Casper, Balthasar, Melchior), the number (3 gifts, 3 guys?), the hometown (Magi are Zoroastrian so Persia probably).
The duration of the trip is anyone's guess. The "star" is hard to pin down. If it didn't appear till Jesus was born, how long would the family have waited in that drafty, borrowed stable? Some say they'd gone home by then, but that brings in some geographic/astronomical problems. So the guesses range from two weeks to two years.
Only Matthew tells this story, and the magi disappear when they are no longer needed.

1. The Wisemens names were Melchior, Caspar, and Belthasar.
2 They came from East, which could mean Mesopotamia, Arabia, or elsewhere.
3. It would have taken about 2 years, because as you know, Herod the Great had wanted to follow them and worship the baby, but when the wisemen did not return to the palace, he went mad and ordered his soldiers to go to Bethlehem and kill ever male child 2 years old and under.

(2) Came from the East
Sorry that's all I got my Bible's at home but I'm sure that at least some if not all that info is in there. And by the way here's a little fact, the Bible never said there was 3 wise men it said there was three gifts so there could have been more or less wise men.

1. The scriptures do not say there were only three men who came to see Jesus, and they are unnamed in the bible.
2. They came from the East.
3. They didn't actually get to see Jesus until he was a child, but I can't speculate as to exactly how long- months or years.

ummmm, "One is an rather account of Jesus' delivery, at the same time as the different is an account of the Magi's visit. That began me wondering if human beings heavily believe that what you observe contained in the shop exhibit abode windows IS the tale of Jesus' delivery--with 3 wisemen, 2 shepherds, a large admired individual, an angel, and a shack full of animals, all surrounding Mary, Joseph, and an 8-month-previous "newborn" Jesus. in case you've self belief it is an truthful reflection, then you actually'll even believe that Jesus develop into born on December 25th. i did not imagine each person believed that. i presumed all of us knew Nativity scenes were merely a summary of Jesus' delivery, no longer the rather tale." did i win?

I do not have the names but someone will... They probably came from Persia or further east... they probably did not come to Bethleham untill two yerars after the Birth of Jesus... there is no record of them with any details. Alot of the story is just tradition.
