If it is the Word of God, like it says, would He help us on the spot like that?

The term for this is "Bible Roulette." And while God is more than capable of causing it to fall open to the pages He wants you to read, you are technically "tempting (or testing) God," which Jesus clearly spoke against with Satan during the 40 day temptation in the wilderness. (See Matthew 4:6-7)

What would you do if the page fell to this?

"Then he went away and hanged himself."

And if you decided that wasn't what God would want you to do, and performed another spin of Bible Roulette, and it fell open to this?

"Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do likewise."

Would you think that is God's will for your life?

It is better to read the Bible in its context prayerfully, and allow God to speak to you through it, without resorting to roulette.

Oh I used to try this each and every person the time... back whilst i replaced right into a infant and that i for my area study the Bible. I flipped it open and located verses on LOVE. it quite is whilst i finished examining it. One time i replaced into examining a paper and that i replaced into aggravated with the information. Then a Jehova's Witness got here to the door just to grant me a Bible Quote and a flyer. He reported "God delivers us that the Evil ruler will sometime fall and that on the present time will come quickly." i do no longer remember what verse he pointed to yet he did practice it to me from the (quite) Bible. This replaced into presently too. So even whilst i'm no longer cracking the Bible, it quite is cracking itself. do no longer take that e book too heavily, nonetheless... it quite is all I gotta say. God is Love and THAT e book replaced into no longer written via or OUT of affection.

Yes, I have, but it is really a superstitious practise and I really don't believe God expects us to use His word like that, although He does work in mysterious ways. The best way is to read and study, find an applicable scripture (call on a minister if you have trouble with this one) and "stand on His word" and pray!

Look at a concordance to find references about whatever topic for which you need guidance. The bible is mistakenly treated as a "magic eight ball" or as an amulet.

No. It is the Word of God and it can help you. But I don't recommend that method.

What if you read Matthew 27:5 "Then he went away and hanged himself."
Then you flip to Luke10:37 Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise." Not a very good method, is it?

No, I don't practice bibliomancy, which is what you're talking about - a form of divination that uses random passages from a book to determine the future or give insight into the present.

But if YOU do, what are your feelings about other forms of divination?
