I do not have a favorite breed. I have nine dogs, nine breeds. But I do favor Birdie, my Nova Scotia Duck-Tolling Retreiver. You can check out my Yahoo! 360 Blog to see her and more information on Tollers.

I also have another vote for Australian Shepherds. They are incredibly smart and energetic.

I prefer the working and herding group dog breeds.

But my favorite DOG is my own Golden Retriever:

Ch. OTCH3 Miss Ginger's Fancy Golden Star Rising of China, UDX30-VCD4.

Goldens are smart, versatile, loving, energetic, and happy to please you all the time. Perfect dog!

My favorite breed of dog is the American Pit bull Terrier. My e-mail address is bluies101@yahoo.com. I have 2 websites dedicated to the good fun loving family dog side of this breed. They are www.myspace.com/weluvpits and www.freewebs.com/cabesbullies. This breed needs more good stuff shown on them. When raised in a good home they make wonderful pets and companions.

Miniature Schnauzer.

Compact, active, a great companion. Low shedding (though they do require regular grooming). Intelligent and multi-talented, overall a great family dog.

The only major downside to the breed is that they tend to be barkers, due to their watchdog heritage. However, considering that our Schnauzer was barking her head off at a person who was in our neighbor's yard (and shouldn't have been) at 1am over the weekend, it's something I'm willing to deal with... it's their job, and they're good at it.

Queensland Healer or Australian cattle dog (same thing)

I love these dogs. I have had one my entire life. They are very smart, energetic, and reliable. Plus I think they are sooo cute. They have natural herding instincts and as a result are very easy to train. My dog worked with cows, horses, and cats. We lived on a ranch and would often have many stray cats (thanks to the neighbors) that would eat our cats' food. He learned to distinguish the difference between our cats and others he would chase them off on cue or sit and stare if he wasn't told. He just had great personality and minded very well.

Akita, they are the best dogs around. They are very smart, almost too smart. They are very independent and very loyal to their owners. Great watch dogs and great around kids too. They do get very big, but they are also very lovable. I think Akita should be the dog of the month.

The Border Collie, super smart, loyal and obedient. Just not a breed for everyone.
