for going that fast, usually, this winds up being wrote up as reckless operation; a 4 point violation in ohio. if the cop really wanted to be a hard ***, he could tag u for both speed and being reckless. in ohio, at 6 points within a year, license suspension for 6 months.
ur insurance company might hammer u for it until the ticket comes off the driving record, and by how much might depend on how serious the ticket was. if this was from flying thru a residential area, 2-1 says the insurance is gonna hammer u. in ohio, it takes 3 yrs for a ticket to drop off the record. ur state might vary.

Here in NC, speeding under 56 mph is a 1 point violation. The points could differ, depending on your state's laws. But it is likely 1 point.
How much your rates go up depends on your insurance company. Some companies forgive you for your first violation. The company I work for forgives the first violation/accident and we won't charge for it unless you receive another ticket or have another accident within two years, in which case, we then charge for the new violation and pick up the old one too.
You could probably go to traffic school and get rid of the point, or talk to the DA and see if you can get it reduced. If it is reduced below 55mph, then it's like you never had a point to begin with. There are several options. Your best bet is to call your agent and consult with him on what would be the best thing for you to do.
I got a ticket for 80 in a 55 in 2005. It was my first offense, so I went to an 8 hr traffic class, and it's like I never even got the ticket. My insurance isn't charging me. I just paid for the cost of the course. If I stay ticket-free until July of 2007, the ticket will be completely erased from my record and I can never be charged for it.

Check with your local court clerk or your state's DMV. I'd bet at least 2, probably 4. You were doing 17 over ... they usually draw the line at 15 over for 2 point tickets.

To tell you the truth, it all depends on which state you're from. In my state, if you go to court, they will reduce the amount you have to pay. Too many speeding tickets, and your licence will be suspended, and you pay $75 to get it back. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

This is a state level question, and the point system is explained in the motorist handbook. Your insurance will go up, you can learn more on this by contacting your insurance agent.

1 and your rates go up. I would try to attend traffic school if you're able to.
