It's yet another thousands year old Pagan tradition celebrating the coming of spring, life and fertility. I'm sure the Vikings in Sweden celebrated it as they do today. They have cute little ornaments for the Easter tree like eggs, rabbits, etc.

Except it's not an evergreen, but a little white, wirey tree, or something to that effect.

Hey Janey,
oh yes, we celebrate Easter much the way you describe, except that it's not really trees (at least I've never seen a tree indoors at Easter) but birch twigs, decorated with brightly dyed feathers, eggs, rabbits and so on, just like you write. They are called "påskris". The twigs are put in a vase with water, so eventually they burst into small green leaves.
The birch is a beautiful tree with white bark, so those who have small birches in their gardens will probably sometimes decorate them, too, at Easter. I think that is what you mean when you say "small white trees". And when students graduate from college, very young birch trees are sometimes taken down to decorate the entrance of your house. Then they are ornated with balloons and streamers. Yes, trees are great for festivities!

Blah, blah, blah, blah. Nobody tells you you have to put any kind of a tree, so what is your problem? Move to Iran.
