It's the failure to report a crime. In some jurisdictions, that is a crime in itself. so, yes, you need a lawyer.

Misprison of a felony?? I think you are missing some terms or something. I've never heard of that, and I'm a law school graduate. If you mean felony, then yes, you better get an attorney.

"t s" is correct. It's a federal law under title 18 and I found out as I was researching my exposure to tax evasion. The IRS can & will charge someone with this.

Problem is, even after I reported the felony to the police, they just don't believe me. But at least I have proof I warned them of it and didn't conceal it. Maybe you have to do the same. Just tell what you know and if they investigate-great, if not, oh well.

What jurisdidiction are you in (what state?)?

Basiclly it is you failing to report your knowledge of a felony. Did you let some innocent person go to jail and kept your mouth shut?

IT is not used much anymore, which is why I am wondering who is charging you.
